I drove 300 miles yesterday checking out a couple of parks that I might want to apply for a host position for winter 2014/2015. It was all 2 lane roads with a cruise speed of 55-60 with pit stops during the day as well as slow cruising around the two parks. Overall fuel mileage for the day 19.6. I'm happy.

Washed both trucks and removed about an inch of salt and dirt.

Our 05 GMC 3500 quit running properly- Had to take her to the "Doc"- A broken wire on the Allison was the diagnosis- All is well now- DD P.S. Also had her washed and waxed- She looks like new again and drives that way too

Put a new Extang Tonneaus Tool Box cover on the TV. Took less than an hour then went back inside to warm up.

Just got the auto tranny serviced, 117,000 kms since the rebuild and all looks good inside. Out to the garage to do oil & filter, fuel filter, and grease the front end. Yah! such fun clean work!

Did the full 12 qt transmission fluid change and filter in the 2500 using the oil cooler return line intercept method. Used Valvoline Dexron VI full synthetic. Did the same to the 1500 work truck a week ago. All this took place in the ultra secret state-of-the art Crabman service bay.

Made a trip to local locksmith Cothron's today to get new keys cut for the truck, toolbox, generator box, padlock, and locking receiver hitch pin. (My other missing keychain with all those keys has not turned up, it's likely somewhere in my workshop, lost in time for the moment.) The truck key had a chip, so each one was $30. (I got two because the spare I had mounted in a magnetic box stuck inside the bumper disappeared sometime on our recent Big Bend trip!)

The only key they could not cut was the one for the receiver hitch pin. I remembered getting it at Advance Auto Parts in Bee Cave, so stopped by on the way home. Turns out the locking pin was made by Reese, so I called the toll-free number on one of the packages when I got home. They asked for the number stamped on the key, so I gave that to them. They told me they'd send two new keys as a courtesy.

So, I should be set again, with 3 complete sets of keys. I may get another magnetic box, and try to find a place to stick it where if it does shake loose, it will remain in the bed. (I guess I should have known better than to put it on a vertical surface inside the front bumper, but it made it to the Pacific Ocean and back just fine!)

Changed the HVAC mode actuator. Both front seats had to come out along with the center console. But now I have defrost and heat again

Washed off the road grime and added side bars (much easier for DW to get in now) and a lockable tonneau cover

That was the best $100 I spent on my old dodge it took all the play out pulling the camper, it was ditch to ditch every time I hit a pot hole on the road. I put in the custom diesel brand one and really liked it,

I replaced the tie rod, ends, drag link, steering box, pitman arm and every thing felt great. Then I added the brace....... WOW what a difference even after the new ft end. Should have done that a long time ago.
