My 17 super duty is 6.7 with 3.55 gearing. I think I could move my well to a new spot if I could just get some traction😊 I have no problems at all. I can squeak out a little better mileage if I'm not towing. The six speed helps. I don't have hardly any downshifting at all when towing my 8000 lb travel trailer in tow haul mode.

Nowadays, just looking at the rear end gear ratio can be misleading. With the new transmissions having more gears with much lower gear ratio 1st gear and high ratio top gear, rear end ratios don't have to be as low to perform well.

My 2011 6.7 pulls 18,000 pounds with no sweat with 3.55's. Puts it right in the sweet spot for torque

In the "For what it is Worth" Department my TV is a 2016 Ford F-350 Crew Cab SWB with the 6.7 Powerstroke and 3.55 axle. I am hauling a 2012 Jayco Pinnacle 36KPTS, and could not be happier on how it handles/hauls my fiver. The only problem I have had with it is keeping it at the speed limit. Without setting the cruise control I have found myself doing 80+ MPH without realizing it.

2012 f250 with 6.7 and 3:55. Rarely shifts out of 6th gear when towing in Pennsylvania and south. 9000lbs loaded.
My opinion is that any trailer within the payload specs of a single rear wheel f350 will be well served with these ratios.

My 2014 F150, with Max Tow and HD Pkg, has 3.73 gears. In fact, I believe all HD packages came with 3.73. The 3.73 and my 3.5L EB pull quite well.

3.55's is all you'll need. Ford did this to help conserve fuel while still providing plenty of torque for towing. Remember, the 6.7's have a lot more horsepower and torque than the old 7.3 so the lower ratio is ample enough to tow heavy loads. A lot of manufacturers are lowering their ratios now that horsepower and torque have increased.

3.73 E-Locker but with my 33's it is effectively closer to the common 3.55. Like said above, with modern transmissions like my 6-speed SelectShift the gear ratios aren't as important as before.
I would have gone with the 4.10 if I found one (talk about a unicorn) because I have a serious condition that causes me to put larger tires on everything I own that has tires... Even my baby girl's wagon is jacked up on mud tires lol

2013 RAM 1500 Crew Cab with the 5.7 and 3.55 gears. Max tow is 8600#
Pulling 2017 28 BHBE.
Towed over the hills in West Virginia down to Charlotte, NC and back and transmission temps were around 153*. That was in May. Towed to Hershey, PA just a couple weeks ago and transmission temps were around 200*-210*.
Same truck with 3.92 gears can pull 10,200#.

My last two Duramax/Allison equipped Chevys had 3.73 gears (which is the only one you can get in a 2500 or 3500) and with my 8000 lb. 5er, it never strained, whether I was bucking a 45mph headwind here in flat West Texas or pulling a 8600' elevation mountain pass in N.M. I feel I could in fact pull up to a 14,000 lb. 5er nearly as well.

3.55's in my '15 f150 ecoboost with the 6spd pulls my TT (around 6500# loaded) effortlessly compared to my old 4.10 with 4 spd. It holds gears perfectly and turns lower engine rpms. The 6, 8 or 10 spds make a huge difference.

In our Ram 3500 4x4 we are running 4:10 6 speed auto allows us to tow in over drive.Next time 3:73 would be fine! Our camper weighs 10k empty.

Mine didn't come with the E-locker. It has the old fashioned limited slip differential.

I believe GM/Chevy is the only one offering 3.73s in a SRW truck anymore, and they may not soon considering the newer higher output of the redesigned Duramax, it truly isn't needed. Even my old 7.3l from 96 had 3.55s, and when I had the right turbo and injector combo, it towed like a freight train, if it was fine, these new ones leave even a mildly modified older diesel in the dust

As said before, the modern transmissions have better gearing that the rear end gear ratio isn't as important as it once was. I had an 05 F250 with 3.73 gears and with my 20" tires, it was essentially 3.55. Pulled fine. My 06 f350 had 4.10 gears. Same motor same transmission and stock tires and it pulled great! Better than the f250. My current 14 f350 has 3.73 and pulls better than the 06. Mostly due to the better engine, but also due to the better transmission. Unless you are at max capacity pulling a 25k pound load, either 3.55 or 3.73 will work. Jmho

That's a GAS 6L, completely different. You probably would like 4.30s even better, gassers don't have the low end torque like the diesels
