Batt. Question
I had I camper plugged in from the house. Woke up and the battery is super hot and kind of smells. Everything in the camper works fine. What is going on?

Year and model of camper would help provide a better response. Possibly a converter going bad overcharging the battery? Have you checked the water level in the battery? Could be low by what you describe.

How long before it was last powered? Anything else been happening to it, like some maintenance?
I assume you have removed the power from the unit and are getting the battery tested.

Distilled water.
If any cells are dry, I would have it tested as a precaution.
Here is a similiar thread:

Distilled water only $0.88/gallon at Wal-mart. I would have the battery and converter tested.. the converter may have gone bad and fried the battery.

The converter is where all your fuses and circuit breakers are located. It's the place where the AC power meets DC power. And yes most auto parts stores can test a battery.

Our Greyhawk house battery was getting hot and one cell was very low on water. Dealer checked out the converter and it was within spec. Battery had gone bad and they replaced it. Fortunately this was a week before the warranty expired and it was covered.

Whoa, be careful out there! An overheated battery could very easily explode. If you're in the neighborhood of an exploding battery you'd have a real problem. Like mentioned previously it could be a shorted cell or the converter is overcharging the battery. Don't keep it plugged in long term until you find the problem.
