What year? How extensive is the damage? Sounds like the previous owner purposely concealed the damage...

as far as extent the roof i have no real idea yet the floor well seems like from the door into the tt about 36 inches by 48 inches and yes it does seem like it was concealed from us previous owner mid-ohio put a carpet covered peice of plywood down in the entry way . wish i was less of a noob . thx

Real sorry to hear about your trailer. I would be giving the seller a call and asking him to make it right. Good luck.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

A liar, thief and cheat are all equal in my book.

Concealing damage and sub par repair like that is dishonest in my book.

Was this a salvage title?
How in the world would anyone repair damage in such a way?

Doug it looks like they slapped some new dicor on top at the seam popped down a threshold piece of covered carpet and sold it to a unsuspecting noob <us >
the only thing holding up the rubber roof is two trusses and a lot of caulk . We bought it from a dealer in hebron ohio called Mid Ohio Rv about a year and a half ago its been out 3 x since we bought it twice to indian lake and once to summersville ,wv . I think im going to flex seal the crack for a temporary fix untill i can decide . it made the wife sick she spent her grand mothers inheratance on this thing . im so upset i want to burn Mid-ohio to the friggin ground i called them they said sorry we sell used trailers as is but for $6k we will fix it for you . :camp fire:
Breath Jim Breath ..... anyway im thinking camping world knows whats up and can get us into a new 2018 model less hassle and a warrenty i can live with

A dealer?
Oh boy.
I was mad before. Now I'm furious.

Gotta be some legal recourse.

I would contact the seller as this is a classic case of fraud. The damage was clearly concealed in an attempt to deceive. How did you pay for this trailer if you don't mind me asking?

Worst case of fraud I ever heard in a rv. Thats why the inspection business is
thriving.

Nulook45- I totally agree with Vaquero, legal recourse and pressure on the dealer for misrepresentation on the sale. Did they reveal any of this before you signed to buy?

Another option might be to contact Trailer Life magazine about this issue. They have a section called RV Resolutions where you state your situation and they jump in to contact the dealer. Here's what they want from you:
Send a typed letter to Trailer Life RV Resolutions, 2750 Park View Court, Suite 240, Oxnard California 93036. Include copies of any appropriate paperwork and all correspondence (written or phone) as well as a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Maybe they will go to bat for you and directly contact Mid Ohio RV to get some resolution and help for you with that unscrupulous dealer in Hebron, Ohio.

Good luck and keep us posted how this all turns out for you and your bride.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

My first trailer we had was a 2002 Prowler we brought from a guy in 2010. Told us the trailer was in excellent shape. We looked it over and were happy. Got the trailer home and started cleaning it. Thought the floor back near the bathroom was sort of springy, but didn't think much of it. (It was our first trailer).
Couple months later I was doing something and needed to get into one of the cabinets under the sink. 1st thing I noticed was a different color of vinyl and it was a little lower than the rest of the floor outside the cabinet. Started to investigate. Floor had the 1 foot square vinyl on the floor. So I peeled up a couple back near the bathroom where it was spongy. Found black mold. It was wet. I called the person that sold us the trailer and he said it was fine when he had it. (I knew better) Then he said, we brought it as is and there was nothing he could do.
Fortunately, not too long after that, I ha d a rear tire blow and it really ripped the floor apart. (This was before I had my TPMS). Insurance company totaled the trailer. (gave me more than I paid for it). NEVER brought a used trailer after that. Always brought new.

Nulook45 has just given us some much needed info that he should have mentioned in his OP.

he bought it 1 1/2 years ago. Its been out 2 time previous to this last time where he discovered the rot/damage.

a lot can happen in a year and a half, especially if stored un covered and a roof leak develops.

I would say if out twice before without noticing issues, perhaps it wasn't such a fraud after all.

I wasn't there to see it over when he bought it nor were any of the rest of us.
Seems old to me. BUT it was a used unit, sold "as is" and I believe it is entirely possible most of the damage/ rot occurred after the purchase, IMHO

It easy to jump all over the seller, but this is a year and half later.

Pony Express you are right but i would not have thought 1/3 of the roof would go in just 18 months and how do you explain the Door mat nailed to the floor to hide a big soft spot there and it didnt have any leaks before the last trip out . I figure the road vibrations of traveling 300 miles one way opened the seam . I did talk with a repair person at Mid Ohio . He said they just fix them enough to sell after that its on the new owner. Either way were stuck with it until we can get a new one .

you may be right nulook, but the fact that its been 18 months, I think your stuck.

How do I explain the door mat nailed to the floor.... BIG RED FLAG!

Sorry that happened to you but Buying used is risky even for the truly skilled and knowledgeable buyer.

Pretty sound logic.
