Larger tires. Thought I would share.
Trailer is a 2017 Eagle HT 28.5 rsts. The tires that came on it were: 225/75R15. I upgraded to: 235/85R16.
Gave the trailer a nice lift. Axle's already flipped and leaf springs are in the lower holes. Very happy that I did it.

The front tire looks off center in the last 2 pictures. Any clearance issues?

No clearance problems. The front tire is a little off center but the picture makes it look worse than it really is.

I upgraded when we bought the same 5th wheel. Went to the Maxxis tires. No complaints with the ride. Especially after all the horror stories I read about regarding tires. Good investment.

Quick question. We have the same 5th. When you close the kitchen slide does it not completely close over the bumper. I have a gap where the tire well meets the 5th. Thanks.

Richie t,
I am a little confused about what you are asking. "completely close over the bumper" and "gap where the tire well meets the 5th". Can you take a picture?

I found your posting in an older thread. Still happy? What did gain in height with the new tires? Are you able to fit an X Chock in-between?
What was your source for the upgrade and how did you make sure your bolt pattern would match with the new rims?
Thanks

Gorpie, in addition to the above questions; It looks like you are pretty level with the 15" tires on. Mine rides nose high (as many do) and was looking at the 16" to help offset some of that. What was your situation?

Yes I am still happy that I did it. If I remember right I got about 1.75" lift with the tires. Yes I am able to get the X chocks in between the tires.
As far as wheels and tires I went to my local tire shop to figure out bolt pattern and tire size ect... I knew that 16" would fit as it was an option.
My trailer was nose high also. So I moved the springs into the lower hole (axles already flipped) and went with the biggest tires I could fit. It helped a lot with leveling out the trailer some. even after that I am still a little nose high.
Don't know why Jayco build's the HT's like that?

I saw a notice on E Trailer about the distance between tires on tandem axles. It said you should have 4 inches of clearance. I measured mine and there was only 2 inches! When we bought the fifth wheel it had smaller 15 inch tires so we asked for 16inch tires and the dealer changed them for us. No mentions of problems with doing that.
We have called Jayco to ask the question about this as we don’t see anything in the manual regarding this but of course they don’t call back with an answer. Does anyone out there have an answer that might help us? Did you have any problems with this?
Thanks

I would contact LIPPERT or DEXTER and ask them. They are the suspension engineers.

Following.... I have the 16" tires from factory and about a 2" gap also. Had to buy a different XChock for that 2" space but it worked. Haven't heard about a 4" requirement but am interested in what you find.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

My trailer came with 15" tires and I changed them to 16". I was also concerned about the distance between tires. I talked with our company's local industrial tire shop and they had no concern with the issue. I also have about 2" or so between tires I think. I have had zero issues with my setup and do not worry at all about it now. Just a side note my trailer had the option for 16" tires but I bought it off a lot and it already had the 15" on it. My x-chocks fit.

hey Gorpie. I sent you a PM, but then thought like me, you may never see it.
I have recently upgraded my Tow Vehicle from a F250 gasser to a newer F350 diesel. The space between the camper and truck at the hitch is 5", towards the rear of the bed is 4", and at the tailgate 3" (the tailgate area rises in the middle). so yes, rides high in the front of the camper.
I want to get the rear of my trailer raised. I have an appt at CW to get this done.
I have the 27.5 rlts (2017) and mine came with the 16" wheels and is set at the highest setting on the spring hangers. If I was to move it to the lowest setting, this will raise my trailer, correct?
sounds like I want to do exactly what you have done...
