Nice mod. I might rethink mine. I removed mine because it wasted to much storage room.

Do you use it for your main power cord. I never actually tried it to see how it worked.

Yes. It works good. Just takes up a lot of space

Nice job as always Tom! I was going to do the same, but the DW says no more mods until we get back from Disney. I told her it was free, since I have the plywood and screws. She still said no. Her reasoning is because she worried about me for 2 days being up on the roof at the storage lot with no adult supervision, so this is my punishment.

Thanks Dan!

Just do it when she’s not looking. It shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes
Use some blocks or a jack to hold it up before you screw it in. Too bulky to hold with one hand and drill with the other

Know it been a while since anyone discussed brakes and grease. So here it goes. When I pulled my hubs found 2 of 4 had been leaking grease (front axle). Both rear axle brakes seem to have been dragging somewhat and grooved the hubs and magnets.
So installed all new backing plates and put new hubs on rear axle. Cleaned the hubs on front axle to remove all the grease. Installed new Timken bearings in all hubs.
Been a long day with multiple trips to the local trailer shop to get parts.

Glad I looked while installing wet bolt kit. Something would have failed before we made it to Key West at the end of the month.

No substitute for routine maintenance.

Jamie

That's a beat down job Jamie. Glad you got it taken care of before your trip.

Where are you staying down in the Keys? I've camped at Bahia Honda SP & Long Key in the past. Long Key is awesome...each site separated by pine trees...and you have you're own beach behind each site.

This time we are staying at Keys Palm RV Resort on Key Largo. Last time we stayed at Blue Water Key, it was a very nice place.

Good job on catching it Jamie. I know what crappy brakes are like and it’s no bueno. Took me a lot longer to find my problem then you. Now, you get to enjoy the trip without worrying about your brakes

One thing to be aware of if you mount it in the same place as I did....make sure it is far enough away from the door to clear the back of the ground control keypad/box. I didn’t pay attention at first and had to move it after I had it all secured.

Looks very nice Tom. What happened to the Xantrex Inverter mounted in that area? With me, I can't afford the room with two large containers to get out from that door. As you know I have my 16" telescope and Binocular mount on the other side which takes 1/4 of the basement.

The inverter is still there. You can’t see it in the picture but it is still accessible. It’s between the front wall and the cord reel

Ok I see now. I remember seeing on another forum here where a cord reel was installed at the rear behind the rig outlet. It was a rough job as the guy described it. That would be a prime engineering marvel for Jayco to make that standard. No more screwing and unscrewing that dreaded plastic ring.

Looks great Tom......
Buy you need to peel the sticker off and put it on right side up so you are in profile. LOL
Is your power cord removable?
