Coupler Height on Whitehawk 28DSBH
New owners of a Whitehawk 28DSBH, will be picking it up in 3 weeks. Trying to determine which shank to purchase (how much rise I need) and was wondering if anyone out there could tell me the height to the top of the coupler on the trailer? I should have measured it but just didn't think about it at the time.
Our TV is an F150 so if you know the height of the coupler on the trailer or you have the same setup and could tell me what you purchased that would be great.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Can't wait to go camping!
Dan

1way, I'm picking up my 2014 Whitehawk 28DSBH this Wednesday and I too have an F150 (2013 XLT Supercrew). I'm a newbie so not sure I'll know what to measure but once I pick it up I'll take some pics of the hookup and take some measurements to see if I can help. Any remaining wd hitch/sway stuff was included in my deal and will be installed on Wednesday.

My ultimate goal is to make sure I get a shank that has enough rise in it to accommodate the trailer. I'm thinking I am going to need a shank with at least 7-9" of rise but I'm not sure.
Thanks again

Don't know about your model, but had to purchase a taller riser when we got our 2014 WH 30dsre. Was 1 1/2" to low with my previous riser. Bought a replacement on line for $150 that was designed for my Reese WD hitch. White Hawk's are significantly taller at the hitch point.
If you don't already have a WD hitch, your dealer will be happy to sell you one that fits your rig.

I have a 2012 28DSBH and my coupler height is 27.5". I measured it on two separate occasions after leveling the trailer so I am very comfortable with this number. The instructions for my WD hitch has the ball 1" higher than the coupler to account for squat so be sure to include this small amount. Hope this helps.

Great information.
For clarification, from what point was the measurement taken at the coupler (top, bottom, etc.) ?
Thanks in advance.

I took the measurement from the ground to the top of the coupler. Your measurements might be slightly different depending on tires and springs, etc. The best method is to level the trailer and measure. I was just giving you a number to use to get your shank.

Coupler Height
Hey thanks everyone for the replies. I did ask Jayco, seemed like everyone had good success in doing that, and they replied back with 26" to the top of the coupler. So....with the different numbers I am really curious to see what it is going to be.
The max rise with the shank I have and everything on the truck is 28.25" to the top so I think I'll be good, but there is only one way to find out.
Thanks Again!

Congrats on the trailers! Once you guys are hooked up I would highly recommend taking it to a CAT scale or similar to know where you stand. I had an F150 with the Max Tow and even after several adjustments, I found that additional weight needed to be put back on the steer axle.

coupler height 28dsbh
That is where the first pull is going, straight to the scale to get a base line to work with. Pick it up on April 5 and we are going for a shake down run that afternoon which will include a trip to a scale. So many have suggested it and it really is the only way to know exactly what the weights are.
Really appreciate all of the good information that I have received on the forum it has really helped guide some of our decisions before we purchased.

The Jayco owner's manual may list it. We just bought a Jayco Eagle 338 rlts and the manual says it is 24". The manuals are available online at the Jayco website if you don't have one for your unit.
