Fiberglass side walls... do yours appear texteured?

Just picked up our 24RBS over the weekend and the fiberglass in this unit seems more textured (you can see the fibers more) than I can remember on my previous TT. I don't know if it's because the other one was white and this one is more grey than white and I notice it more or if it's just poorly laid/coated.

For those that have FG sidewalls, how do your exterior walls look and feel?

Yes, I have a 3013 Jayco Eagle, and you can see some of the fiberglass strands. I think it is normal

It's Filon. Normal to see strands. Very very thin stuff.

My 5er is gray and also looks as you describe. I let it go too long without waxing and the sun has really done a job on the one side (that gets sun all day long in the storage lot). Now, I'm trying to restore the color and look by using a rubbing compound (Meguiar's) but it looks like it's going to take several tries. My advice is to wax it often to keep it looking good, but you'll still see the fibers. My previous SOB 5er was white and didn't have this look either.

I highly recommend Collinite 845 wax, once you get your RV cleaned and prepped, this wax is amazing and lasts a very long time. It goes on and comes off very easy, the bottle should last a long time.Insulator Wax » Collinite I purchase through Amazon.

There still are a few manf who use a thick true fiberglass, but a majority are filon. The filon comes in rolls, is light weight, cheap etc. One of my previous fifth wheels had 1/4" thick Owens Corning fiberglass. It was a heavy rig and you don't see many built like that now. Our Jayco has the filon siding. I don't like the stuff, but, it hasn't let me down either.

We just bought our 23RB last year and I see fibers as well. I hand wax with Mequires Gel Coat wax once in Spring and once in the Fall. The black streaks wipe right off and the water runs off in beads all summer. Take care of it now and it will look good for a long time. 303 on anything plastic or rubber including tires, fenders, roof skylights and covers. I figure if I take a little extra time now I'll thank myself later.

Used to use 845 on my boat! Excellent wax! Most marinas carry it.
