Finally Installed Bed Lift Assists - What a Difference!
Our trailer (265RLSW) did not come with the gas shock bed lift assists for the queen bed. With the hinge at the head of the bed, lifting it to get to the storage compartment was extremely difficult and impossible to use safely without a prop stick to hold it up. Even then if it fell while I was leaning in it would have been a serious injury for sure. I can even see how it could kill someone. I finally installed the gas shock lift assists and wow, they work great! Easy to lift and takes a reasonable amount of pressure to push it back down which means it won't fall. We can now use the storage area under the bed. Haven't before since it was too difficult and in my opinion dangerous to use as it was. Surprised they are allowed to construct it that way.

They should be. I was surprised and asked, assuming they forgot them during prep or something but no, they don't come standard on our model.

Wow that's insane. I can't imagine trying to lift that thing without the supports!!
You will probably want to add a support across the middle of that bed too.
We had to with our 28RLS due to the plywood starting to sag in the middle.
I love that they give you all that space underneath the bed, but without the added support, we kept find ourselves meeting in the middle of the bed.

Another reason to get a Jay Flight over the SLX models. Thats 1 item left out to keep cost down.

Ours is a Jay Flight but an RLSW model. I have never really figured out all the letters and model distinctions that Jayco uses. I know the RLSW model was not top end and that some of the "features" were removed to reduce cost. Their choices on what to remove to cut costs made sense to them I'm sure but don't to me sometimes.

You are correct in it is a Jay Flight, but it is an SLX model with quite a few less features on it. I agree that some things like the bed supports would be very cheap for Jayco to have installed from the get-go.

This is an absolute must. Makes all the difference in the world on these beds. Did the exact thing on our 195RB, and made a huge difference to say the least. Others are adding wood to the platform itself to stop the sagging, that just makes the platform that much heavier. I am going to go one step further on our new 212. In the spring I will remove the thin plywood platform, add the support wall (enclosed using the thin plywood being removed), cut the new plywood add the support wall and add the hinges there, so when you lift the bed, it will be less plywood to lift, and besides, if you need to get anything from front storage, most do it from outside
