2" memory foam topper from Wally World for 50 bucks suited us just fine for weekend camping.

In both our Jaycos we added a 3" foam topper and a 3" feather bed. Both from Kohl's. I don't like getting out of bed now when I'm in either!

Just curious about those toppers. They don't give any support, do they? Don't they just insert padding between you and the cheap springs? Not that that isn't enough necessarily, but maybe there's more I'm not aware of.

I talked to these people at the Hershey Rv show a few years ago. Traded the PU and purchased the hybrid so I did not get a new mattress, but if I did I would have got it from them.

Bought the best Serta we could find. Put the stock mattress out and sleep as we are at home. Why not spend good money where one needs to?

DW Bought a Sleep Number Short Queen bed from Camping World on-line. It's awesome, and if you join Good Sam you can save 10% off the price. Now I have the same sleeping experience camping as I do at home.

we added a 6inch memory foam topper from Kohls, cut it to fit, and feels like a new bed...almost as comfortable as our regular mattress in our house now...and a gazzillion times better then that one we had in the tent....oh wait that was the ground!!!!

We bough the 2" memory foam topper from Amazon for About $60, and it has made a world of difference. We didnt cut ours down and easily added an inch or two to length with the sheets. Defitnitely mich cheaper than new mattress.

We went to Camping World to buy a new mattress for our camper. They had them on sale. I walked all around looking for them but could not find their bedding area. Finally asked a sales person. He took me to a section where there was a box about 2 feet by 2 feet by 5 feet all stacked up. I asked him where was the mattress and he said right there. I could not believe it. Never seen a mattress in a box before, especially that small of a box. I was used to seeing mattresses laid out so I could try it out. I was very skeptical but wound up buying a queen and taking it home. You take out the old, and take in the new. Open the box very carefully and then carefully lay out the mattress on the bed and cut the plastic it is vacuum sealed in and get out of the way. The mattress just folds itself out right on to the bed and became 8 inches thick. It was nice and firm and we have had it for almost a year and love it. Would not trade it.

We purchased a mattress from Quest, they specialize in RV mattresses and it was very reasonable, and better than the mattress in my house.

We bought a mattress from Camping World that came in a box! Couldn't believe it when they showed me the mattresses in the store. I had never seen one in a box. It is the shortened queen version also. You just take it out of the box and lay it on the bed where it is supposed to go. Then carefully cut the wrapping from around it and let it open up. Takes a full 24 hours to come to its full size which is about 6 inches at least thick. One of the best mattresses I have ever slept on. The mattress that came with the trailer was not to my liking at all. Put my knees on the bed and I would go all the way to the board frame underneath. I would highly recommend the mattresses at camping world. Like someone else said however, it is all personal preferences.

I was looking through various threads the other day and happened to come across one dealing with mattress replacement. The person who posted modified a normal mattress to fit his short queen. Basically he purchased a regular mattress of his liking, removed the seam on the bottom side of the far end, and pulled the cover back, took an electric knife and cut it to the desired length, the pulled the cover back over and sewed it with fishing line. The poster said it worked great. Just another idea to consider.
