Trailer jello wiggle

My DW is "sensitive" to the trailer jello wiggle of my walking around while she's trying to sleep. This means it is a problem I'm going to have to try to solve....

Anyway, I use the orange blocks for the jack supports and front jack stand and chock all the wheels.

I know it can't be completely eliminated because the trailer sits on the tires, and the tires will wiggle a bit.

Any ideas that have worked for others?

Thanks!

Haven't tried them yet myself...i will this weekend...but x chokes are supposed to help with the wiggle. Guess I'll find out this weekend. Anyone else using x chokes?

Homemade version of JT Strongarms or jack stands.

I just get out of the camper. Grab a beverage appropriate for the time of day or the mood. and chill in the reclining camp chair.

I use the orange blocks for the stabilizer jacks as well as X chocks. The X chocks do seem to help. It's the side to side wiggle on my load range C tires that my DW feels. The stabilizer jacks aren't the best. The less distance you have to crank them down the better it is.

Picked these up to lessen a bit of the Jello feeling. A touch cheaper than the JT strongarms

+1 on the X Chocks. People seem to love them. We are single rear wheels, so none of those for us.

X-Chocks are a must have, but it was the JT Strong Arms that took the majority of the motion out of our camper. If you search the forum you may also find a few home made solutions that achieve the same thing.

If you have a 5th wheel, a king pin stabilizer is another option.

We use the X-chocks on our 34 ft Puma TT. They work very well to get rid of the wiggle. We will be using them on our new FW when we get it...

I use the X-Chock as well and they work great. Doesn't eliminate motion 100%, but enough for us. I'd also recommend the step support for your stairs. Keeps the unit from leaning as you enter.

We have a set of x-chocks as well. Does help eliminate some of the wiggle.

I also added an extra set of scissor jacks just in front of the front tires. That helped some of the mid trailer "bounce", ad we have a little longer rig. Maybe try a couple of the old school stabilizer jacks in the center to see if it would help out your 27. I actually moved the stock rear 24" jacks to the center and mounted a set of 30" in their place. Slightly taller jacks for those sloped sites.

Eventually I want to add a set of the stabilizer arms to the rear jacks and possibly the center. Due to my "fence posts" may not be able to add them to the front. Haven't looked that close yet. They are on the mod list still.

When you set your wheel chocks, do you place one of each side, then "drive" the trailer into them a little, set e-brake, then place the other chock on each side? I do this and it seems to help "lock" the tires in. Then place the x-chocks which help even more. Seems to work better with a wheel chock behind he rear tire, and in front of the front tire on each side. Then when the x-chocks are installed, they "push" the tires in the wheel chocks a little.

I made stabilizers out of 2x8 boards and ratchet straps and I swear by them. Takes out about 80% of bounce and wiggle. My cost was maybe 20 bucks.

I've found that the cargo strap type stabilizers are a lot more effective than I would have expected. I didn't make my own but even manufactured Aluminum ones were pretty cheap. The stabilizer arms are good if you can, but the stand alone ones were good for needing no real installation to make use of them.

This is what I found on the forum a while back and I use it on my trailer. It takes away almost all movement if done correctly.

3 ratchet straps
2 2x4's
6 eye bolts
Oh and I painted the black too just not in the photo. So add another $5 for the rattle can of paint.

Cut to fit within the trailer frame and pull tight. Took 100% of the wiggle out. I can hang my little flash light by the door and jump up and down or shake side to side and it doesn't even move! I was just about to click purchase on Amazon for the JT stabilizers but found this idea off the forum and headed to lowes and saved over $200.

Biggest reason I mentioned "Homemade" version of JT Strongarms. They are great, but you can do as Dropnaduece (Love the user name BTW) did and come out with spare change. I got a set drawn up in Visio from 3-4 years ago. Just never built them. Same concept as Dropnaduece, but installed on the RV where they'd retract and pin to the camper.

Steadyfast

I have a X213. It was a little jiggle as well. I installed the Steadyfast in one day and since then the trailer has been rock solid! Doesn't move at all. A little pricey but so worth it to us. Also they have fantastic customer service I highly recommend this product.

For relatively inexpensive options that work to solve the majority of the shaking, either the X-chocks or the ONEstep chocks work great. When I am sitting outside while the wife and kids are inside the camper, I can see the trailer tires rolling back and forth slightly as they walk around. X-chocks or ONEstep work to prevent that tire rotation, which stops the majority of the movement.

Its still a camper on tires and a suspension, but its much more solid with less movement inside.
