Water pump bad?

I have a 2016 Whitehawk 25BHS and tried to use my water pump, I opened the faucets and it tries to build pressure but won't. I filled the fresh tank and nothing. I read that there could be an air leak or kink between the tank and pump but the antifreeze siphon hose won't suck anything out either. You can hear it sucking but nowhere near enough. I'm thinking I got a dud pump. Anyone else have this happen?

Are you 100% sure that you have your valves set correctly? For me, my valves are set to normal to use the pump

Yes...there's only 2 valves next to the pump and they were correct for either scenario. I've had 2 other travel trailers before this one and never had issues like this.

There should be bypass valves by the hot water heater that need to be set correctly as well.

They wouldn't have anything to do with the pump not sucking antifreeze out of the bottle right next to the pump though.

Somebody mentioned on another post that the screen in the pump might need cleaning. Just a guess.

I had the same problem when i tried to winterize in Florida before heading back North a few months ago. I googled the problem and thought I had
an air pocket in the lines preventing pump from pumping liquid. Someone on google said to go to the outside shower and suck on the hose to pull some liquid through the lines. Guess what? it worked like a champ and pump started pumping the antifreeze. Bet that is your problem.

Dead serious. Take off the shower head and suck on the hose. Try not to suck any fluid but it wont kill you if you do. Just make sure its RV antifreeze.
Worked for me.

This could well be it if you have one.

Did you take it apart? I only ask because mine recently clogged with algae, but I couldn't see it until I took it apart even though it has a clear bowl.

No...I never tried using it and had the trailer since new just a bit over 2 years ago (just past the warranty). I might just do that since I'll probably be buying a replacement anyways.

Just to be clear, I'm referring to the inline filter, not the pump itself.

Mine was plugged up with debris from assembly last year when I went to winterise. Cleaned out the screen and it worked fine

I just dealt with this. There was an air pocket after the pump that was causing the issue. I tried to use the siphon hose for the antifreeze and it would not draw it in. Once I disconnected the line after the pump I cycled the pump quick. Put it back together and it was all good.

Always be sure on the suction side the filter is clean (if installed), then fill the antifreeze hose with water use a funnel. After the pump start suction you can put that hose in a gallon bottle. If pump operates correctly (build up pressure) then you can switch to the fw-tank. I recommend to fill the system first with city water connection to pressurize the system.

I actually did do this and it worked afterwards briefly and then back to nothing

This was the culprit. It connected from a hose to the strainer.
