Weight distribution

So here is what I have, 2018 Jayco 24MBH and I am towing it with a 2016 ram 2500 with 4:10 gears and towing capacity of 14k lbs. I am wondering will I need a weight distribution system/ sway control or just a sway control bar, or will I even need either? I live in a small town in Alaska so I can’t tow it far as of now, but I will be making about a 6k mile journey in a few months through Alaska and across the United States. It tows fine as of now but I haven’t had it above 50mph and no winds or anything. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would get a wdh so your prepared for just about anything traveling can throw at you. Check out a anderson wdh hitch with anti sway or maybe a equalizer 4 point hitch. I've got the anderson works good for me. Any good wdh hitch is better than none. My humble opinion anyways.

A wdh will make the trip more enjoyable, especially if you realize you need one partway into the trip. An Equalizer brand, or one of a similar design will take care of sway and weight distribution, all in one hitch.

Another vote for the Andersen. I have a similar sized trailer and it is a perfect combination with my Cummins Ram and the Andersen.

We, too, have a 3/4 ton pickup, and our TT is more than 1,000 pounds lighter than yours. But I’ve never second-guessed getting a WDH. When you encounter those 40 mph crosswinds unexpectedly, it’s great comfort. We have an Andersen and love it.

I have a smaller rv and tow vehicle and the Andersen works great for me and everyone I have seen who wrote in about it.

The people with the Anderson brand, is it the ones with the chains that you tighten down?

Yes. That provides the force to distribute weight to the front.

Yes, you can tighten the chains, but I found that if I use the electric tongue jack and pre-set my chain tightness I often don't have to change it every time I hitch up.

I also have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland which has air shocks that allow me to raise and lower the whole jeep.
Some campsites are just to far off level and I have to work with the chains.
Buy a 24 inch or longer bar and socket and it is no work at all compared to popping on some of those bars.
