Love the Jayco Expanda campers sold in Australia
We are in the market for a new expandable (upgrading from a 2011 x17C for more room) and I came across Jayco Expanda travel trailers (expand out and up!) I really like the look of these campers. Turns out these light-weight campers are sold in Australia. Wonder why the design hasn't been introduced in the U.S.? Seems like they would sell really well here....

I too really like a lot of them too, floor plans are really nice and they have a few features the US models do not have. This past year is the first time I noticed on their website 5vers.

I like the top hinged covers over the bunk ends. Seems like a better design and would protect the canvas.

Great idea and wish we had that here in the states. The lighter interior looks nice and bright, I don't care for the real dark wood that's in style right now.

I think US Jayco is content being a quality producer of TT for the masses.
At first glance - I like the clean contemporary styling and the fact that I could store it in a normal sized garage. Unfortunately, that comes at a price of losing enclosed storage....which was the main reason we ran away from Pop-ups

I agree with the above comments. The top hinged covers would be so beneficial and probably not add significantly to the weight. The pop tops would improve ventilation, add light, and allow the hot air to escape quickly. The only downside seems to be the missing upper-cabinet space but I think that's somewhat compensated by pass-thru storage areas. I wonder if Jayco would consider shipping a few over and test the market here...

Found myself browsing around Jayco's Australia site and can't help thinking those models are just way cooler than what they make in the US. Anybody agree? I mean, those mini wine fridges and pop up TVs at the end of the bed? Not to mention the beautiful interior finishes.

Interesting suspension as well. Coil springs, shocks and a kind of wishbone trailing arm, kind of reminds me of the main landing gear on a DC3.
In general I think these TT's are built much lighter than what we see in the US and I wonder about that. They seem much lighter/brighter inside which would be nice. One of the first things I do (after getting the A/C and water running) is pull the shades up to get some light inside.

I agree our tinted windows are pretty dark in the Greyhawk but it does give you total daytime privacy without pulling the shades..I miss my rig already! Only winterized last week lol

Maybe it's because my first travel trailer was a British made Sprite Musketeer but I always liked the smaller cleverly designed trailers.
We need more trailers that can handle a family but don't need a full size truck to tow them.

Wow, the Aussie models are pretty cool. And a little 21 foot 5th wheel. Jeez something that could actually be towed with a 1/2 ton!
The interiors do seem more modern in style, with curved cabinetry, etc. Placing the bed across the trailers in a slide out is neat too. Oh and the bathrooms seem alot larger, but the living ares seem more cramped. Cool stuff tho. I'd so buy that wine fridge! LOL

that looks like they are towing it with a 1/4 ton in the pics
also they sell packages, you can buy a truck and fifth wheel package right from the dealer, that they advertise on their website
one thing i noticed is that they are owned and operated locally, so meaning they are just using the jayco name? im not sure but i figured it would be owned by the US company
