snowbird travels

What are your thoughts on traveling back north from Florida on March 31 and April 1?
Anyone care to share past experiences with traffic?
Any difference with the backups if you leave 2 to 3 days before or after?
Thanks in advance for thoughts and advice...

I would travel on Sat or Sunday, less congestion (rush hour) on those days for the most part, but one never knows anymore.

Try to schedule around snowstorms
Last year we towed through several hundred miles of badly cleared road in VA and PA
The only saving grace was no trucks no traffic and the traction was ok
Visibility is usually more of an issue

If you are going through Atlanta I would suggest getting a Sunpass from Florida which works for the express lanes in Georgia. Only costs a few dollars and really saves time, gas and wear and tear of the bumper to bumper traffic at all hours of the day in the Atlanta area.

Only costs $5 to get one and then add some cash as needed via credit card.

We also use it if we go to Tampa which has several areas where toll roads are easiest to use plus the Skyway Bridge.
