East Coast / NE Waterfront Camping

Hi All,

So the big day is coming up and for a honeymoon me and the wife will be looking at taking the camper out for a couple weeks next summer. Looking for some suggestions for great campgrounds on the waterfront. We are based out of NY so have visited many of the Adirondack and NYS parks - so we are looking at trying something different for an extended stay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There are some nice options on Cape Cod!

Cape Cod or look up Horseneck Beach in Westport Ma. Right on the ocean

Or Assateague State Park or National park for a cheaper alternaive, but still near Ocean City.

Also the Outer Banks of NC.

There is a KOA right as you come on Mount Desert Island. Its very pricey and waterfront.. There is another one ( Narrows Too) on the other side of Thompsons Island Both in Maine
Way down east near Lubec Cobscook State park offers great waterfront scenery on the ocean. Its cheap too

Old Orchard Beach CG in Maine. Not on the beach, but a few miles away there is Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine. Free dog friendly beach. Two small parking lots $10/day or park on the shoulder of the road and walk a little.

Old orchard beach is nice. Very commercial though with the boardwalk. Similar to Hampton beach in NH. Great for kids!
Water is COLD all summer!

OOB is something I avoid in the summer. Wear a wetsuit.. The surfers are out there today and its below zero

Recompense Shores Campground and Winslow Park in Freeport. Both on the water.. The latter a municipal campground.

There are plenty of campgrounds waterfront on lakes near my home. I live across from Kokatosi in Raymond and my favorite because of the staff is Colonial Mast in Naples.. They have a year round swimming pool and we go there all winter. Its open year round..a rarity in these places
