FDR State Park

This is our second trip with our new TT. We have been to FDR a couple of times to hike and stayed in a friend’s cabin, but this is our first FDR Park campout. Spots are first-come basis but we had plenty to choose from when we arrived. The trailer sites are nice, hard, and pretty leveled. I’ll update this thread over the next few days that we are here.

If you have camped here, feel free to share your recommendations and memories. Thanks!

We are in FDR State Park near Pine Mountain, Georgia. It’s the northwest area of the state.

Have you been to Dowdell's Knob and Callaway Gardens? The azaleas should be looking good about now.

We just arrived but saw gorgeous azaleas on the way in. We are here for four nights so we will check out Dowdell’s and Callaway. Thank you!

We camped there for almost a week a few years back. The section on the hill near the grey water dumps are what I recommend for rv's longer than 35'. Nice cg and lots to do in the area.

Have been there several times. It's a great campground. Plenty to do around there, and as stated before, Wild Animal Safari is a blast. Make sure you pay to rent their van to go through, the animals will trash your vehicle. Also, buy the biggest animal feed as you can afford. It goes quick, and you will get "slobbered" LOL

Well, my Tundra is only three months old so if we go we will use their van, LOL! Today’s plan is to find shoes for the six year old since he only brought rain boots, then we might hike the trail that weaves through the campground and maybe rent a kayak or canoe for the little lake. Tomorrow we will head out to Dowdell’s Knob.

Checking out some of the trail that loops through the various camping areas. There is a nice clear creek with minnows in it, that follows some of the trail. We did a three mile loop that took two hours including a short playground stop, and our elevation gain/loss was +82 feet mile one, -146 mile two, and +54 mile three.

Love FDR. We go every father's day weekend for a sprint triathlon at Callaway. Have fun!
