Looking For Beachfront Campground Ideas
Hello everyone! We are wanting to get some trips planned for the year, and looking for some suggestions.
We would like to find a campground that is located on a beach for a summer vacation, keep in mind we live in KY. Probably wanting to be on Gulf Coast or possibly Atlantic Coast.
Also, any other great campgrounds around our area that people would highly suggest for smaller trips and etc would also be appreciated.
We bought our North Point 5th wheel late in September, and only got to use it a few times locally before we put it up for winter, but so far are loving it.
Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated!

Check out Myrtle Beach State Park.

Beach front campgrounds fill up real fast. Our state park reservation window opens six months in advance so for fourth of July week I had to be on the computer January 1 hoping to grab a beach front site on Lake Michigan which I got lucky and got one, within a few hours the whole campground was reserved for the week, and now most of that park is full for the whole summer.

We really First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. Sites back on to the sand dunes and you're just a few yards away from the water.
We also really like Fort De Soto in Pinellas County just south of Tampa....heading there in just over for 4 weeks.

If you make it out to So Cal, Carlsbad state beach is pretty incredible! Right on the beach overlooking the Pacific! Sooooo nice!

We have visited “On the Beach RV” in Port Aransas and “Sand Piper RV” in Galveston several times and completely enjoy them both. The former is quieter and more laid back but Sand Piper has a great location if you want to be a tourist.
Both have easy beach access.

There are a couple RV places on Cape San Blas, Florida.
Rated one of the top beaches in the country and has a fairly remote feel to it.
I own a house on the Cape and there is a house lot converted to a single RV space a few lots over and a couple more along the cape I have seen.
Here's a picture from my place -- the one RV space is closer to the rocks.
There's been a good bit of erosion == but you get the idea of the beach quality. This was taken during spring break one year. We've lost much of the dune there -- but there is a seawall protecting this section of the beach.

If you have kid's Lakewood campground in Myrtle Beach is nice. It's on the beach w/ waterpark with slides and lazy river. It has several eating places on site and rental golf carts. It's rather busy in prime time but we go in the off season with grandkids. Ran by very nice family.

If you are looking for a coast to coast trip here is a place to stay in Oregon on the beach.
Main
It has been a few years since we have been there, but it has never changed over the years we have visited.
We have never been farther east than Illinois. Maybe one day!! We do have a daughter in New York state. No one never knows where life will lead people with a RV.

We love beach/oceanfront camping too and have made some reservations for this fall. Look up T.H.Stone Memorial State Park, Little Talbot Island State Park and Presnell Bayside Marina & RV Resort all in FLorida.

If you are looking for something directly on the beach, then Myrtle beach has many nice campgrounds (busy though) our favorites are Trav L Park and Pirate Land . We have enjoyed Assateague Island state park a great deal, with its wild ponies roaming free!
Cape Hatteras is also great and the Rodanthe KOA is a few meters from the beach, which is not as crowded as Myrtle Beach can be. Finally, our favorite is North Beach camp resort in Florida, 3 miles north of St Augustine. Very quiet and not as busy as Myrtle Beach, sites are shaded and discrete . Love the ocean on one side and the river on the other ! We are headed there in a few days with the kids for the spring break n!

Haven't been to the beach yet but here in Ky, Blue Heron in the Big South Fork is nice. If you like to canoe, Grayson lake had a nice campground and the canoeing was awesome.

Check out RV park reviews on line you can search by state, Gulf Coast has plenty. Although not directly on beach, but you get free beach parking as it's part of the park, Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores is very nice and the Pensacola Fl. Area has lots. Good luck!
