Question. Finding Strange things while traveling
Somebody recently told me about an app they use to find some weird, unusual stuff as they travel. I can't remember what app it was. I think it worked kind of like the geocache app.
Like the banana museum, giant ball of yarn, rubber duck tree, stuff like that.
Anybody know what I'm talking about?
Thx!

And another one found, hardly ever out in the open but if you look you’ll find. Our first one was at Cape Arago just west Coos Bay.

Painted Rocks
It is a phenonium that caught on a few years back. Most every town has a facebook page called for instance "Blairsville Rocks" . People, not just campers paint and leave them around for others to find. Some have beautiful art and others just a word of encouragement. Then they post pictures of where they were found, etc. We find them and take them to another town and pass them on.
I put one near a tree in a florida cg and no one ever saw it for about a week.

Did you try Googling it? The only one I could find was the one Norty linked to, but it is only for Apple. I can't find one for Android.
You can just go to roadsideamerica.com for free, no app needed.

While not an app, I frequently check out this website for interesting places to see along the way.

I do see that they have an app now, but it is not free.

I have a book put out by National Geographic I've referenced a few times.
https://www.amazon.com/125-Wacky-Roa.../dp/1426324073
It has attractions from all over the world, so I doubt I'll see many of them. But I reference this when I'm planning a trip. We've seen the giant eyeball in Dallas (not an RV trip), Carhenge in Nebraska (referred there by a friend), and the "World's Largest Ball of Sisal Twine" in Kansas, and we swung by Cadillac Ranch in TX a while back. There have been other spots as well.
I sometimes will pick a city we're going through and see what I can see on their Chamber website or whatnot. Sometimes you can find some pretty cool/interesting things. I also watch out for roadside signs. If we have time in our budget, we'll often pull off the road to check something out. Most every community has SOMETHING it's "known" for.
I'm going to have to check out those apps and websites that have been suggested. You just never know what you're going to find out there...
