Where to stay in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge
Planning out a trip.
Anyone have opinions on what RV park to stay at for a few days in the area.
We will spend 3 nights in the NP as well.
Thanks!

We just finished a week long stay at the KOA in Pigeon Forge. Very nice park.
There are quite a few RV parks in the area and a big factor should be what you intend to do and then find a park close to those activities. When we were there the traffic was terrible and it could take an hour to go 3 miles on the Parkway.

Up The Creek was very nice just on the west side of Pigeon Forge.

We stayed at Two Rivers Landing in Seiverville last year and found that to be a nice place. Small but well maintained. It’s not located in the middle of everything, but was an easy Uber/Lyft ride away. Might be a bit of a challenge ride wise nowadays.

We have stayed at Anchor Down. Very nice place. We have reservations for the first week of November. There have been times it’s hard to get reservations unless it’s well in advance.

There are two CGs, one of them a KOA, in Townsend, right on the edge of the Smokies park
We're camping on the other side of the hills, in Cherokee, next week, but we always make a point of driving over to Townsend at least once, to eat, grocery-shop and, this year, to go trail riding. ( I haven't sat on a horse since I was 3, so this may be interesting...)
Enjoy your trip and stay safe

We stayed at Smoky Bear Campground 20 minutes east of Gatlinburg. Away from the crowds and mayhem. Quiet, very clean and well maintained and the hosts are wonderful. Ask Klaire where her favorite places to hike are.
Parking in Gatlinburg can be a pain, but there is a city owned parking structure on the east end of town. Even by the hour it's far cheaper than the tourist lots further in down town and it's easy in, easy out.
If you do like hiking the only way to beat the rush any time of year is to get to the trail heads early. Really early. 9:00 AM is too late, any parking will be filled. And most of these are real mountain trails with parking for only a few cars. But the back country stuff is the best stuff to see. Lots of rivers, rapids, waterfalls and dramatic overlooks to see.

We ended up staying at Greenbrier Campground 4 nights after our 3 days at Smokemount. It was a nice cg and enough out of town to feel like we were still in the Smokies.

We stayed at Pine Mountain RV Park in Pigeon Forge, highly recommend the RV park. They have cement pads, a great pool, if its raining they own the hotel across the street and you can enjoy their pool. Also close to many attractions!

New for 2021 in Pigeon Forge
I saw on another New Pigeon Forge facility that is now booking for Spring 2021. https://pigeonforgelandingrvresort.com. This is newly constructed, on the west prong of the Little Pigeon River. Located right behind the "Titanic Museum" Attraction. Wonder on earth how they got the zoning approved on that one. It's basically in a neighborhood. Anyway was chatting with the President, Lloyd, and he gave me rates for October, very reasonable. Choice of Riverside with either safe book refund price or 90% return price. Pull through and back in, all full hookups. All concrete pads. Somewhat stacked sites but that's city livin' I guess.
