Summer Host Position
I just received my confirmation for a 4 month host position in Panama City, FL. I was at this same park last summer and am going back. The attached photo was my site last year and I will have the same one again. This image is on Google Earth. Their camera vehicle came through the park while I was out.
I definitely don't have enough "stuff".

Gibby3275, A Camp Host for lack of a better description is a volunteer who helps the park management operate the park. We will do most anything they need from helping to run the check in, show campers to their site, mow grass (my favorite), clean restrooms, etc. We do this for a free site and for a certain numbers of hours/week.
Clutch, You are correct. I do have a bicycle stashed in the basement, but I don't leave it outside unless I'm on it.

Enjoy the summer in Florida - when are you leaving? Not sure when we are traveling by your central Alabama location. Hope to stop by before you hitch up and move. If not, see you this fall. We hit the road April 24th for three weeks home a couple and then on the road until end of June, home a couple and then heading to Louisiana.

I made the trip from my home base to my summer host position today. Uneventful trip. I did stop south of Montgomery, AL for an hour breakfast. I was waiting for a line of thunderstorms to pass by south of me. It was a good breakfast and a good decision. I never saw a rain drop all day.
I'm all set up except for my water and ground mat. That will be done first thing tomorrow.
Let the summer begin.

Update: Only three sites in this park of 176 sites have sewer hookup. They are reserved for camp hosts and I finally have enough seniority, if that is the correct word, to get one.
I'm unhooking water in a few and loading up for a move of about 100 yards. I will be here until September 15 so it will be worth the move effort. And with the uncertain weather in the Gulf right now, the extra 2' or so of elevation above sea level won't hurt either. I am going to fill my truck with diesel later this afternoon and keep my generator gas tank full just in case I either have to evacuate or we are just out of power for a day or two. Either way I will be ready. Ed is watching the weather channel at lot for the next day or two.
I hate to see the host couple that are on that site now leave. They are great people.

You were at St. Andrews Dylan? I am in Tennessee right now, but will be driving back to Florida today after a few days on a houseboat.
If you are still in the area stop by for a cup tomorrow, Saturday.
