2022 Jayco Northpoint / Pantry LED Optical Sensor

I took possession of my 310 RLTS about three weeks ago. Upon inspection at the dealer, I found that the pantry door LED lights do not turn off and remain on. The dealership thinks that the optical motion detector was defective and said they would order a new one and send it to me for me to replace as I am about 4 hours away from where I made my purchase. Now they are telling me it may take 6 months to get the part. I am looking for information on the wire diagram or breakdown to install an on/off switch in the meantime so the LED's do not remain on for the next 6 months.

It appears that the power source maybe a pass through to other electrical components as there are 4 wires going into the optical sensor appearing to represent power in and back out? Any knowledge about these sensors is appreciated.

My concern is the four wires. What else do they power. Unless pos/neg to operate the motion detect, and the fed to the LED strip pos/neg when the motion detector sends power to the LED's?

You know there have got to be a way to solve this, maybe go to homedepot or lowes and see what they have, maybe just replace that sensor there with another one that you can find at homedepot.

2022 Northpoint Kitchen Pantry LED's won't Shut Off - FIX

If you have a 2022 Jayco Northpoint, and the kitchen pantry lights optical sensor will never shut the LED lights off. The problem is that the wiring was assembled incorrectly at the factory. In the attached photographs, I have attached two photos of the optical sensor in my 310 RLTS, The 1st photo depicts the optical sensor as installed from the factory. The 2nd photo depicts the sensor disconnected from the cabinet to view the wiring as installed. If you have this issue, and the two wires to the right in the provided photo with the wires spread out lead to the LED light strip. Then the wires are reversed and need to be switched to the left side sensor wires. With the left side wires being switched to the right side sensor wires the same way. The clear plastic factory connectors have orange tabs on them that lift to release the wires. So the OEM connectors can be reused without new hardware.

Using a simple volt/ohm meter, you will detect power coming to the sensor, and then seeing power to the LED light. From what I can see in the picture, there are two sets of black and red wires. Ina simple 12volt circuit, the black would be ground, and the red os the 12 volt power lead. Installing a simple on/off switch while waiting for the replacement part would be easy by installing the on/off switch to interrupt one of the ground leads. I always interrupt a ground lead as to not introduce a potential spark at the switch. In this case though, you could interrupt the 12volt side as well, as the LED is not drawing a high amp load.

I understand the principle of warranty here but many of us have spent much more to resolve warranty issues on our own. I would gladly spend $10 to resolve this problem and avoid the whole Jayco / Dealer process.

I have the same sensor with the same issue in my gun safe. Relocating the sensor worked to resolve my issue. My initial placement for whatever reason left the led's on. It took several tries but relocating the sensor ultimately worked.

Yeah, I checked them multiple times… not sure why would not work.

Ultimately I just wired a rocker switch and used command strips to secure it to the back of the door frame and just turn it on and off. Works perfectly now.
