Battery box cover?

I was out at my trailer (X23B) today when the outside temp was 92F but the battery temp was already 104F. Considering I have a $1000 Battleborn Battery in there, I want to protect it from getting too hot. Two options as I see it: take my battery out every time I store it (outside, uncovered, offsite storage lot), which would be time consuming and annoying in the 100deg desert summer, or I could get a cover for the battery cover.

So, my question is, are there covers for the battery cover? I didn’t find any online, but my battery cover is black like everyone else’s, so for now I put an old tire cover over it. Maybe paint it white? How do other desert dwellers deal with this?

Thank you,
Chris

Battleborn batteries temperature range goes up to 135* F. A reflective sun shield you’d put in your windshield mounted to a frame of some sort should keep the direct sunlight off it. Painting the box white can’t hurt. Maybe add a vent to the box to allow the air to move freely.

I moved my battleborns to the inside of the trailer into the pass-through storage to not have any heat issues

Battle born also have a thermal protection built in to them, but I have no idea what the internal controller does when it senses it’s too hot. Anyone know?

Just so I'm clear, you have a $1,000 battery unlocked at a storage lot? I'm not certain I would be comfortable with that.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well. I moved ours to inside the trailer, that's one of the benefits of LiFePO4's.

It’s locked with a heavy chain and padlock. Just not covered from the sun.

Thanks for the ideas about venting it or moving it to front pass through. I’ll consider both.
