Broken door latch lock...

The key no longer goes all the way into the keyhole on the side door handle. Which mean we cannot lock the door from the outside. Which means we are locking that door only with the dead bolt...
It's a 2016 Melbourne.
I am hoping that all or many Jacyos use the same kind of door latch/handle and that someone can suggest a fix....Thanks......

I bought from these folks a couple of years back when updating all my locks to the same key. The easiest path was in part replacing the door lock. Good folks to work with.

You could try cleaning the lock tumblers out, they are exposed to the usual road grime and spray. Or try just lubing them first with some graphite powder or spray and see if that works.

Agree with jimp; Clean and lube the tumblers. Lubrication is a word we need to repeat often in RVing.

Squirted some lube into the keyhole...Did not fix it.
A locksmith is coming out tomorrow. He won't charge to make a recommendation.
He did say that replacement locks are made of inferior materials...........and that's just the way it is.....
He's a good guy.....We trust him and after using him a few years ago to replace a buggered keyhole/lock apparatus after someone tried to break in....

Here's what I finally did:
I contacted a locksmith I had used about five years ago. He said he would come look at the malfunctioning lock and make a recommendation.
Well, he fixed it.
He used tiny tools to remove the cylinder into which the key is inserted. In the cylinder or four or five small metal tabs. One was bent slightly. He removed it, threw it away, and said that short of buying an entire new lock/handle/dead bolt, this was a low-cost fix. Then he reinserted the cylinder.
The damaged tab means the lock is now four-fifths as secure as the original -- I guess that's one way to look at it.
But it cost me $20. The locksmith said replacements are made of lightweight metal and just are not long-lasting....

No one will ever know that lock has only four tumblers, instead of five. Thanks for the update.
