Generator running in camper shell

Just wanted to see how many run their generators from inside their truck camper shells or tonneau covers?

Unless you vent the exhaust out of the truck bed somehow I would think the exhaust would choke out the generator's engine pretty quickly.

Never... long ago

Never today - Heat must dissipate from the unit.

I have a solid tri fold bed cover. I run my generator at the edge of the truck bed with the tailgate down but the cover closed. I have a flex pipe attached to the exhaust port to carry exhaust away from trailer. This setup keeps the generator protected from the weather and has worked well for us.

i run mine sitting in my truck bed... A lot quieter sitting in the bed vs. on the ground. i probably wouldn't run it in a camper shell unless the back hatches where open. Generator needs ventilation for cooling and why stink up your camper shell, you may have to sleep in it someday..

I also run mine in the truck bed ( tailgate open ) when possible for a couple of reasons.First I don’t have to lift it out of the truck bed ( 75 lbs. ) , it does seem to be quieter and when we are done using it for the night I set the truck alarm as a theft deterrent ( along with chaining it down ).
