How I found my freezer door leak location

So on our second shakedown cruise with our new 26XD, I found 2 problems with our Norcold N8X refrigerator.
First the lower door was sagging an wouldn't stay closed. As suggested here I removed the door and placed a spacer on the bottom hinge. That moved the door nicely back where it belongs. I'll just store light items on the door from now on.
Second: air is leaking into the freezer at the top left corner of the door. The corner opposite the hinge. After doing the "dollar bill slide test" all seemed ok. So I fired the reefer back up and after it cooled down I marked the location of the frost/condensation buildup. This time I took some silicone slide guide and coated the door gasket within the marked area. Sure enough I had a nice transfer of silicone across the area except at the corner where the frame 45 degree cuts meet. I found the top frame was overlapping the side frame and wouldn't allow the gasket to seal. No problem. Made an "adjustment" and now the frame edges meet nicely. Second test and still no contact in the same area. Looking at the gasket I find that where they glued the top and sides together is a mess. The gaskets overlap and there is a build up of adhesive and won't allow the 2 surfaces to meet. I did some very light sanding on the gasket and got the gap to about 1/16 ". I put a light coating of silicone grease (good to -20) closed the door and I have seem to have a good contact. Now I'll let it sit for a few hours and see what happens. We're going on the road for 6 weeks in a coupe days so I hope this works ok. When I get back I'll get into the warranty thing.

Thanks for posting. Having same issue. My freezer was fine for about a yr and now has a heavy leak. Fixed the fridge with a zip tie on the hinge so no issues there anymore. But I also see a small gap in the rear where the fins are. I guess I have hot air coming in from the rear as well so I will seal it with some silicone or foam.

As added info. I don't want to give the impression that the gasket is sealing as intended. It's the silicone grease that is filling that 1/16" gap. I'm afraid if I get to aggressive I'll make a hole in the gasket, then I'll have a much bigger problem!!! Lol..
