I talked with one of my sisters today that lives near Orlando and they were boarding up windows, gathering supplies and securing loose items. I invited her to spend the time with us but Having lived there her whole life, she said they would be fine. Stay safe everyone.

There's a new advisory on Dorian. Now a CAT 4, 140 mph winds. Still creeping along at 10 mph.

Thanks for the good wishes friends! We were at a Campground in Vero Beach waiting for our new home to be completed and left Thursday. Made our way up to to Lumberton NC to wait the storm out. Hopefully we're far enough North..

The track is heading farther EAST, which means the hurricane MAY go north along the FL coast and up to GA, SC, NC. The 2PM update may have it in a different path.... time will tell.

There are advantages to being "RV people" in the hurricane belt.

We have lots of propane, battery and solar operated devices, a generator, an extra fresh water tank, an extra bathroom... if the house is damaged, we can move into Camp Backyard with minimal inconvenience.

Which is not to say that we're not taking precautions. I just came back from collecting sandbags, for our ground-level doors, and we're well stocked on food and medications (a lot of people forget the meds)

We are on the Gulf coast, so likely to be spared the worst of it (though storm forecasting is anything but an exact science!). We still anticipate plenty of wind and rain, but nothing like as bad as the Atlantic coast.

Sending positive thoughts to our friends on the other coast - stay safe, and stay dry.

Well Dorian, you got our attention! We are in full evac. mode in case it comes ashore around Charleston, SC. It sure is a bad time for all, but especially us. My wife's fil passed away last week and the funeral is scheduled for next Saturday. If they call for evacuation around here, her mother in a nearby assisted living facility will not make it back for the funeral.

We are used to hurricanes and evacuations but this throws another unknown that has to be considered.

Phooey!

We are still in RV resort in Jacksonville. Still no issues here. Will go West tomorrow and wait. Look like Panama City should be safe and only 4 hrs away.
Good luck to all!

We just got a call that the Assisted Living facility where my wife's mother lives is evacuating pere SC Governors decree at 11 am tomorrow. We will bring here here and wait a day or so to make sure that the storm stays on the forecasted track.

Last resort, we will flee inland for a couple days.

Norty, you may have already heard, but all of I 26 will be only going west out of Charleston. Didn't hear what time that begins.

Folks, I have a campsite on my property that I normally rent out. If anyone needs it, let me know, free of charge. It’s currently booked Friday and Saturday, but available between then and now. We have 50/30/20amp electric and water, and plenty of room for any size rig. I’m in fort white, fl, just off state road 27.

If anyone is interested, just pm me here. For details of the site, you can view it here.

https://www.hipcamp.com/florida/4a-r...art=2019-09-05

Again, i’m offering it free to you folks, so do not book it on the site pm me and i’ll block the calendar for you.

Good luck everyone, be safe.

- Mike

Yes, it's already reversed in both directions. I am taking my rig to a friends inland who has a place to park it with power and water if we need it. I'll come back home and ride it out at home unless it's bearing down on us.

BTW If you are traveling north on I-95, you can not get off on to I-26 westbound or eastbound in SC.

FORT WILDERNESS closes at 3 tomorrow and they are putting people up at Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside. Those in a cabin go to Grand Floridian. All the Parks also close at 3:00 tomorrow. Orlando International closes at 2 AM Tues.

Be careful down there! You already know things can turn bad in a heartbeat. We'll be watching this monster carefully'
