The lower tow rating in this whole hypothetical quiz is because of the pulling power of the engine. As has been pointed out, it is the same truck as a 5.7 hemi 1/2 ton, other than the less powerful engine.
Fear not if you see me on the road, for you are safe. I pull my 8,500 lb. 5th wheel with a 3/4 ton diesel. But alas, we all know that pulling with anything less that a 1 ton diesel dually is just "criminal
