I 80 Michigan to San Francisco

Planning a West Michigan to San Francisco (San Mateo) trip, mid to late July lasting about 8 weeks.Looks like I 94 to I 80 west takes us right there. No schedule other than spend 2 to 3 weeks there visiting family otherwise come and go on our schedule. I plan to start getting reservations soon for campgrounds. Main question is what kind of route will I 80 be. Going to be in our 2020 Greyhawk Prestige 30XP towing 2018 GMC Acadia. Mostly concerned with mountains and interested in campground recommendations with full hookups. Thanks for any advice as this trip will definitely be a first of this length.

Very windy in the Plains and some serious climbs to Donner Pass. Downhill to Salt Lake is interesting

Brakes ought to be up to date and serviced and you know how to use your engine brake.

80 across Nebraska has some nasty crosswinds.

Campsite recommendations . Depends on if they are all booked already. No its not too early to book. How many miles do you want to drive in a day. I usually determine a mileage and then look at the app RV Parky for reviews and amenities. It worked well for us 44 days and 10000 miles across country and back. Just got home.

Once you cross the Sierras and begin your descent into the Sacramento area, I-80 is most likely to get VERY busy with heavy traffic, especially as you draw closer to San Francisco. And if you're journey takes you info SF during the mid-afternoon or early evening hours, expect gridlock. So allow plenty of time on your schedule through that area.
