Is bedroom TV necessary for monitoring local weather?

Is bedroom TV necessary for monitoring local weather? We usually do not watch TV. Is local weather(e.g. hurricane/tornado watch & warning) only available TV? is weather radio a better choice than TV? we can put weather radio on bedside if it is a better choice.

Is local weather also available on a phone app?

We use the "Weather Bug" app. Never even hooked up the bedroom tv in 10 years.

Is this for real?

Reaching out for help for a answer to a question is “Real”. Weather app that will give off weather alerts works for us.

I don't remember ever turning on the bedroom tv, I believe I did when I purchased the RV to make sure it worked but that is all. I suggest a couple of apps, weatherbug and myradar both of which can send you alerts and the radar app can help you know if the severe threat is heading towards you. I also recommend a weather alert radio, that will also tell you if there is a threat in your area, just be sure to set the best channel every time you change locations. ~CA

We depend on our phones for weather-related issues. But it's conceivable that we'll not have cell coverage, which would render our phones useless. We also will try to catch a local TV station on the antenna to try and catch the weather report. But it's also conceivable we wouldn't have OTA TV reception.

It's probably a really good idea to have a weather radio if you're going to be in places where you have limited reception on other devices. We don't have one in the camper (yet), but then we've never been in a place where we didn't have phone signal OR TV signal. We have always had one or the other, and most often both.

My experience is that the NOAA transmitters are less reliable than cell.

That's a little disheartening. You'd think those NOAA radio signals would reach just about anywhere. But I guess cell coverage is getting that way...

We have AccuWeather app on our cellphones. You can get weather info based on where you are.

I have a few weather apps on my phone. Only works if I have cell coverage. One is set to alert me to sever weather in my area.

My TT radio has a built in weather radio. It has a separate button to flip over to the weather bands. In the TT I have not used the weather band a lot.

When backpacking and canoeing in some extremely remote areas, my small portable weather radio has never failed me. During the summer months I keep it in the TT.

We had areas where all I got was static...
