There are a couple of different types. One has small rotating plastic bars. Just twist it off of the flap. The other has two small flaps on each side. Gently lift them and the vent will be free. Push them back down when you are ready to leave.
Google, and the search feature at the top of the page are your friend. There is a wealth of info out there on just about every RV and other problems.

Ok... I've read other threads, took ya'lls advice, but for the life of me I still can't get it open!!
Short of tearing it out and replacing with new...how can I get the dang thing open?
The outer cover is so narrow it's really hard to do much of anything.
I really need it to operate..... help!!!

They are very stiff, and hard to operate, especially when new. It may hurt some, but push in an upward motion on the two tabs. Release one side at a time using both thumbs. I've opened ours once, and it wasn't easy.

Try sticking a paint stir stick under the tab and push up. Do both the same way.
After 10 years mine are still stiff but a squirt of silicon spray may make it work better.

If there are the two flaps with the edges on the bottom, flip them up. It unlocks them. Push them down it locks them.

This is probably the style vent. Those two tabs are very tough on the thumbs.

Canyon post an image of which flap you have.
Mine just snaps in place, the first year it was very stiff to open.

Ok, here are a couple of pics.
Almost looks like one would push up on the rounded tab and it would open🥴

If I recall correctly, that looks like mine. I pushup and pull out at the same time. Mine was really stiff the first few times I opened it.
My TT comes out of winter hibernation tomorrow, I could double check then.

Just went out and opened mine. Push tabs up with your thumbs and rotate your thumbs out. I had to push fairly hard to close. Good Luck

+1 to the others saying "push up and out".
It will be difficult, and you probably won't break anything except maybe your fingernail. You might have to use both thumbs on each side. After you've done it a few times, it does get slightly easier.
Mine remains open ALL THE TIME except sometimes for long-term storage. The only times leaving it open becomes somewhat of a nuisance is if the wind is blowing just the right way, it will flap, but that's actually pretty rare. YMMV
