Need help deciding on a Class C RV

My wife & I are really interested in purchasing a Class C RV. We really like the Redhawk 29XK, but we have some reservations as we are new to this world and want to make sure we are covering our bases before buying.

I have read many of the posts on the JOF and it sounds like most owners are very happy with their decision to buy a Jayco camper, especially RV's. That has been reassuring as we really want the 29XK, but any additional advice on this purchase would be welcome.

One other question, from what I have read, it looks like a buyer can expect to pay somewhere between 20% to 30% off List. Our local dealers shows a List of $90,504.00 with a purchase price of $64,995.00, so it looks like they have already priced these units well. I might throw a lower number at them, i guess the worst they can say is no.

Thanks in advance for the help & advice,
Bret

Welcome to the forum! The price you were quoted is almost 30%, so that is a good price. Never hurts to offer a lower price as you plan on doing. My advice would be to keep reading up on RV's in the forums here and elsewhere, as well as watching Youtube videos. There is a lot of good information available out there. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions. This forum is filled with wonderful folks who are happy to offer their advice. Have fun with the shopping and keep us posted when you get the new RV.

We have the exact model you are looking at and we are very happy with it. We ended up at a little over 30% off MSRP buying locally and then they included the slide topper, a ladder for the front bunk and installed a TV mount and our TV in the bedroom.

The quality of the coach has been good so far. We did a very thorough PDI and another round once we got home. I found the kitchen sink drain leaked if you filled and drained it quickly. Other than that I did some of the minor things you'll find on the forums like sealing up the AC ducts and reinforcing the shower floor near the drain.

I will suggest that you budget for some suspension upgrades especially if you'll be towing a car or driving in windy conditions. We added the Safe T Plus steering stabilizer, front/rear sway bars and a rear trac bar. Now it drives very well.

The Redhawk is a great bang for the buck unit IMO.
