Freezers work more efficiently with "stuff" in them. I try and keep my freezer at least 80% full at all times using bag ice as required for a filler.

Biggest mistake for an RV fridge is to load it with a bunch of non frozen food. These units work great if used properly. Want to keep some icecream in your freezer, don't use trays to freeze ice. 1st you are opening the freezer to get out the trays and the water will draw down the temp as the freezer works to freeze it. You will end up with softserve the next morning. Load it for a trip with prefrozen food and don't try to freeze a weeks worth of meat for a family after arriving at your CG.

Is the frig still under warranty? If so, I'd try to get it worked on under warranty. Ours works great even putting unfrozen meat, etc. in it and it will freeze everything within a matter of hours. I looked online and you might try "thenorcoldguy" to see if they can help you. There is a charge of course! I hope you find the answer to your problem.

What makes this problem so confusing is that it does not do it all the time. A couple times during a camping trip my wife will say the water bottle did not freeze. Last week we had returned from a camping trip and my wife left food in the freezer including some meat. The meat had thawed yet the refrigerator was fine. We took the meet out and left just some water bottle in the freezer. Checked the next day and fridge was 33 and freezer was 42. There was also some water in the bottom of the freezer. Since then it has worked ok. This morning checked fridge 32 freezer 0. Could it be that somehow the freezer is getting to cold and icing over and then warming up.

If this double posts I apologize. I replied and yet it does not show so I will reply again.
This problem with the freezer does not happen all the time. A couple times my wife has mentioned that some water bottles in the freezer did not freeze. This is while camping with the freezer fairly full. A few day ago we had returned from a camping trip and wife had left some items in freezer including meat. When she checked the meat had thawed. We took everything out except some water bottles. The next day the fridge was 33 and the freezer was 46, there was also water in the freezer. We cleaned everything up and this morning fridge 33 freezer 0. I should also mentioned this has happened on both gas and electric. I am wondering if somehow the freezer is icing over and then doing some kind of defrost. ???

Part of the problem could be the auto defrost cycle. These fridges go into auto defrost every 49 hours of operation and stay in auto defrost for at least 2 hours. This is enough time to warm the fridge and freezer considerably. I circumvent this cycle by turning the fridge off every morning for a few seconds and then back on.

First thanks for the responses. Question does Norcold N611L have an auto defrost cycle. The unit is out of warranty.
