Pick up Camper when dealer is closed ??

I have a small dilemma and need some advice.
My X213 had warranty work done and completed ten days or so ago. I’m having a NYE party Tuesday and would love to have my guests sleep in it rather than drive after a long party but the dealership is on vacation until Jan 2nd.
Question is should I go get it from there lot before Tuesday or is that a bad idea as they don’t reopen until after the holiday ?

That would all depend on what you worked out with the dealer as to picking it up.

If you do decide to get it, are you sure you can get out of the dealers yard? I know our dealer blocks the driveway so you can’t get in/out of their yard.

And...if they have an alarm system and cameras you might spend NYE in the slammer for vehicle theft........

Even though it is warranty anything they screwed up during the process could be you responsibility if you take it without them releasing it. Also, could your locale consider you driving it off without a release theft?

Personally I wouldn’t do it without their approval or release

Or, have hotel rooms reserved nearby and a cab for transportation?

Don't know how old you are, but back when we were hosting NYE parties, those beds would have been used for more than sleeping it off.

Ah, the memories. Now I’m lucky just to stay awake until the Ball drops in NY. And I’m on AZ time....

LoL ! Yeah believe me I’m not happy to be hosting a party it was the wife’s idea and at 44 years old I may crash at 10pm myself but I’ll give it a shot

You may get lucky, and get away with picking it up, but if an owner/employee sees it missing, they might report it as stolen. Now you've just PO'd the one person that you don't want to. My gut would tell me not to open up that can of worms. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't want anyone in my new trailer after a NYE party. Especially after a night of drinking. Think about the potential mess. Silarly your home. Rent a couple of hotel rooms and call a cab. It will keep peace in the family and worth it.

I agree with EA on this.
You will most definitely want to inspect their work before towing back home and just taking it without their knowledge is not right.

Did you try leaving a message? Sometimes business owners will check messages even though they are technically closed. If someone checks the messages and gets back to you, they could make a special arrangement to go pick the unit up.

I often do things like that for my clients. Even though I'm out of the office, I'm never really "off work". One of the joys of being a business owner...

Otherwise, I'm with the others; don't just go and get it. That seems like it could go the wrong way quickly.

How often do you have an excuse to keep drunks out of your trailer? Wake up and say no.

Y'all's NYE parties must be A LOT more interesting than mine!

At this place in life, and at my age, the struggle to stay awake long enough to see the crystal ball drop is real. We usually get the kids sugared up and let them play games. Then we try to keep ourselves entertained enough to stay awake long enough to ring in the new year. And that's if we're with friends. So in my case, it's more like I don't want my guests falling asleep on their way home, not that they're too drunk to drive. So under most circumstances, I wouldn't mind my guests staying in my rig if they felt they needed to. Then we could relax and not worry about it. Get up the next morning and have a nice breakfast.

When it's just the 3 of us, we're usually snoring LONG before the new year comes around! But we usually fight the good fight and wake up to watch the ball drop before we amble into bed.

Now, in my younger days, I'd been known to ring in the New Year in wild style. Oftentimes watching the first sunrise of the year before passing out. Those days are long gone. For me AND all my friends. These days we're more likely to complain about how tired we're going to be on New Year's Day than we are to be rabble-rousers until all hours of the night... And I've dumped out my fair share of champagne (the one and only bottle opened for the evening) the next morning.

Picked her up today instead of risking everything talked about. One problem I ended up with was two dead 6 volt batteries due to nobody disconnecting them for me even though I asked three times and was told no problem ! SMH
