Snow removal

Just wondering how you all clean the snow/ice off your trailers before you get moving down the highway. If there is snow still up there when we bring it home Easter weekend, will running the furnace for 48 hrs remove enough snow to be worthwhile. There is a very good chance that there will still be snow at that time this year. I know I can’t drive 3-3.5 hrs with a foot of snow on the roof safely so it has to come off.

I had a Plastic Snow Roof Rake. They're available on AMAZON and I think ACE Hardware has them too. I carried it in the rig even to use on the slide toppers.

I have to get on the roof and use a wide brush broom. And very carefully.

A plastic roof rake for us. Our foot of snow had ice on it
Crampons that we. use for traction on ice are bad for the roof

If you are lucky to have fluffy snow a leaf blower would work

If you can run your heater for 48 hours and thaw the roof of a foot of snow you have an insulation problem

Most of it will come off in the first 30 minutes... you'll be fine. JK.

We do the same... but only if there is more than 12-inches and we don't have a forecast that it will melt off in the next 3-4 days. The snow often compresses and then freezes into a solid chunk of ice in 2-days

Yes, but it comes off in big sheets of ice - sometimes in big chunks 2-3 feet across. Not good for traffic behind you.

All snow settles but doesnt get lighter
In Northen Maine they have 8 feet of snow
on the ground
With constant subfreezing tempstill at least mid April
the snow from Oct 31 is still there all squashed
There are people who camp their RV s up there cause the riding is excellent(snowmachine)
We have only 3 feet.
