Tips for Long Term Cold Weather RVing

My wife and I have been traveling in a 5th wheel for a couple of years but only in mild climates. We recently sold our home and will be living in our 37' Jayco Eagle 5th wheel for the next 6 months until our condo is built. We will be staying in Indiana until after Christmas when we will head to Florida for the winter. At this time the temperature has been dropping just below freezing at night. I have installed a heated drinking water hose and looking for other ideas to stay warm as economically as possible.

1. How many days would one expect a 30# propane tank to last? I'm getting about 5 days.

2. What about humidity in the camper? I just added a dehumidifier as humidity has been up to 70 percent.

3. What about adding insulation over the windows?

Anyone have experience staying long term in an RV in cold weather?

We use propane in our lake home and use about 200 gals per month during the winter with it set to 55 degrees. Using 6 - 30 gal tanks per month doesn’t sound to horrible. The humidity will start to drop but it still would be nice to have a small unit for the next couple months. If you’re getting air leaks around the windows you could try the heat shrink plastic but I’m not sure about putting insulation in the windows. I’ll be interested in how the heated hose works. I’ve seen mixed reviews on them from numerous sources. Looks like it’s sweat shirts and earmuffs for a few months. Good luck.
