Toilet flush seal treatment (maybe)

I have a theory about the flush seal that I cannot prove or discount but I will share with everyone.
We are in our 10th yr with our 5th and recently realized our flush seal was giving us problems with drying out during storage times a few years back. After sitting in storage a while the bowl would be dry and the seal would be “sticky” due to being dry. Somewhere along the years the “bride” started buying “Poo-Pourri”, a spray scent for the toilet that somewhat neutralizes the smell resulting from one of us (or our party) drops a #2 in the bowl.
I can report is is fairly effective. Here’s the point of my post.
Since using it the seal hasn’t had any sticking or sealing issues. I cannot declare this to be the magic elixir responsible but I cannot think of another explanation.
One of its ingredients is an “essential oil” (whatever that is) and my thought is that may be the trick. While not cheap, a little goes a long way.
I have no interest in the product and am interested in your feedback and if anyone else uses this and can report similar results or has an opinion that can explain our observations.

I have always put a bit of baby oil into the toilet when it goes into storage. Keeps the seal soft and lubed. It is said that it also lubes the dump seals when it goes on down the system at the first trip.
