Tongue Weight Question

When Jayco calculates tongue weight of a trailer are the jack, battery, and propane tank included?

The reason I ask is I seem to remember these were installed by my dealer.

Thanks,
Steve

Probably not. And even if they are the numbers on the trailer are almost always lower than what the true numbers are.

Per a call with Jayco a few days ago, none of that is included in dry tongue weight.

Think along the lines of potential "loaded" weights. The recommended loaded tongue weight of a HTT, TT, etc., should be 10% to 15% of the gross "loaded" weight..., 13% to 15% is more common.

The tags on my TT says it includes two full 20 lb cylinders (but not the battery).

Edit: I spoke too quick. May tag only addresses the overall weight, not the tongue weight. Click image for larger version

If the gross is 5995 (light weight plus CCC) than tongue weight could be as much as 900 lbs (15% of gross). That's the number you plan for.

And as soon as you can, take that combination to your local CAT scale to get TRUE loaded Gross and tongue weights.

Try this trick to measure your tongue weight.
