You are correct. No sewer hose, no use toilet.
A sewer hose is needed regardless. Both in the park and at a dump station.
We developed a checklist and I would be happy to send if you would like.

Yes, pencil and paper is probably the best!
There are all sorts of camping stores (Camping World, Walmart) along the way. It took 3 or 4 trips and lots of wonderful help from fellow campers along the way before we had the finished equipment needed.
Most importantly? Just enjoy!!!! There is nothing you can't find, borrow etc...and other campers are absolutely wonderful sources of help and guidance.

My wife would recommend a few cleaning supplies. She uses Scrubbing Bubbles for most all vinyl tubs and toilets and sinks. Also a basic toilet brush will get you out of a crisis every now and then.
We use microfiber cloth to wipe down the shower when wet to prevent moisture and mildew.

I would LOVE your checklist! Thanks! This has all been so helpful, and I know we will figure things out as we go, but still useful to get a little bit of data ahead of time!

I've seen the 90 degree elbow mentioned in several threads for hooking up to city water. What purpose does it serve? I usually attach the pressure ref to the city water faucet and connect hose between that and the trailer. My dad brings a simple psi gauge too which I thought was handy.

A few reasons that get mentioned are:
The elbow reduces stress on the connection at the TT
Keeps the hose from sticking out so far and bumping into it.
I dunno, I saw other people with one and I thought I should have one.
Makes the water filter hang better.
It looks nicer, cooler, neater, etc.
The views expressed may not be mine in five minutes.

Check out rv checklist apps in google or apple stores. There are free ones that are great and you can customize them to suit your needs.

I would also add one of the CLEAR sewer hose elbows. I don't like the 90 degree ones. Get the 45 degree one,

There is some Excellent information here, but one thing i did not see when skimming...
A Shorter coil hose for the black water flush. Get a different color than your fresh water hose (usually white), and for the love of god do not ever use the fresh water hose for the flusher.
Congrats on the new trailer!

All of the above. If you are dry camping at a campsite, I would get a water bandit and a water hose shut off. Most campgrounds on the west coast allow you to fill your fresh water tanks at the campground; however, some of the spigots don't have threads, hence the water bandit.

I can't remember the last time I used a pencil & paper. iPad is my tool of choice.

Over the last year, we have been to many a camp site out west where the water was further than the 25' foot could reach making me whole heartily endorse the 50'er.
Even though this is for an RV it has some great instruction on handling your sewer water.

Almost all the state parks in Colorado have 30amp plug ins if you are going to need power. A 30Amp-15Amp adapter is nice to have, but frankly I have only used it in the driveway to keep some power going to the camper.
For the maiden run, consider a driveway camp or something within an hour or less from home, yet still close to amenities such as wally world or the grocery store.

Congrats on your 16XRB. We brought one home last Spring and love it.
Suggestion: install another pair of stabilizer jacks on the front corners. I purchased ours at Harbor Freight. Pick up an 18V impact driver and a socket that will fit the stabilizers. This makes set-up and take-down that much easier. Check out our "Mods" thread for some of the things that we've done to "personalize" our trailer.
Enjoy and safe travels!!!
Oh, and don't forget the digital thermostat mod!!

Torque wrench
We are also newbies with a recently purchased 2010 Jayco Jay Flight 22FB. In reading the owners manual, it's stressed that a torque wrench should be used when tightening wheel lug nuts. Is this a critical tool that should be carried, and used, as part of the RVer's tool kit? Thanks.
