Not a suprise to me... We quit the Good Sam (RV-Plus charge card) because it is nothing close to the benefit they claim it to be. We have tried the RV+ program for two years and after some shady dealings with Pilot-Flying J - we took a detailed look at what we "thought was a good deal" that wasn't.
RV+ offers a discount of .08 per gallon of fuel IF you buy it at a Pilot / Flying J commercial owned location. When you think about how much of a discount you are actually receiving.. at say $3.20 a gallon for diesel. (todays price at PFJ Beaver UT) you COULD save 2.5% at their jacked up prices. Or pay 2.60 a gallon at Maverick 44 miles away on Interstate 15 AND use any bank card you choose (and get that 3% discount they offer).
Or $2.60 at the Chevron truck stop across the Interstate, or 2.61 at the Conoco across the street. All three have truck and RV pumps.
So... pay 3.20 and save 8 cents or $3.12 a gallon after rebate at Pilot FJ and put 70 gallons in for $218.40. or go just about anywhere else and save a bunch more - The Maverick cost would be 2.60 a gallon @ 70 gallons = $182.00- and that is before you get your rebate. Add a 3% rebate on a fillup at Maverick of 5.46 brings you to $176.54 for the same tank. AND the best part - you don't have to deal with the run-down facility, dirty facility and lousy customer service.
Even if you pay cash... you still are getting a better price on fuel than with the RV+ card.
The smartest thing was to cut this card up.... and walk away!
