Warranty question

I have a 2017 jayco travel trailer that is 13 months old. The other night my awning track against the camper on one side ripped off. It was a little windy but not bad. No other camper around me had any problems. I'm pretty sure jayco has a 2 year warranty but would this be covered under the warranty? Just curious if any one had an idea before I called them.

They'll want a tech to look at it first at a shop to determine if it was a build issue or caused by weather.

I'm sure they will say it's a weather issue. Because it ripped it from the trailer on one side. It was windy but not bad. Even my portable shelter didn't get blown over. But I am expecting them to not cover it as I hear they deny every thing they can. Even if they fixed it I would be worried to use it again. The worse part is the screws that came out we're so short I don't know how it had any bite. But I'm guessing the wood it screwed into wasn't that thick so it wouldn't of mattered. If they don't cover it I'm debating on taking it off and just use a portable one since that one didn't blow over in the wind. First time I ever used the awning since owning it to keep the sun off us while eating lunch.

Dont mention anything about wind, bad four letter word with awnings. I would just say it happened as you were opening it for the first time.

Or...

It blew off the camper in transportation.

Insurance may cover it. Follow up after the dealer.

Start with a dealer. If they do not offer a solution immediately then contact Jayco yourself, with pictures.

FWIW, our track pulled away in one area because I had left the awning out in a rain (without tilting it, duh).

I do not leave my awning out in the wind. We get some nasty gusts and the stresses are quite high.

Well I will try the dealer first then Jayco. Honestly if it's not covered not much I can do but will let others I talk to know my opinion of there quality. There was no excuse for what happened it was not bad out. Will be interesting to see how they stand behind there product. Thanks all for the replies
