What comes with MH when you buy from a dealer.

Hello Everyone. After being a lifetime tent camper, I put a deposit on a Class C, an Entegra Esteem 29VE (aka Jayco 29MVP). Being a 1st time buyer and new to the process, I was wondering if they provide a starter kit with the coach, or would you have to ask for it during negotiations. I only asked for a 2nd coach battery. Any help or if anyone knows a link to a thread on this subject is greatly appreciated.

It really depends on the dealership. Most do. But the basics would be a poop hose, water hose, and toilet tablets. The other stuff is pretty much based on your own needs/wants.

My dealer when I bought my fifth wheel gave me a gift certificate in their store to get what I wanted vs a standard package. Made sense to me.

The last 2 RVs we bought, a Jayco Class C and a Jayco TT came with only a sewer hose, but no fittings. We did get black tank chemicals too, but that's because they came with the toilet(s) (TT has 2). Both were bought new.

We bought both from the same dealer. With the motorhome, we got a $50 gift card to use at their store and if we made a purchase that day, we got a 15% discount. With the TT, we got a $25 gift card with the same 15% discount. With the motorhome, we bought a ladder for the cabover and the top bunk bed. Never spent the gift card from the TT.

When we bought our first new RV, a Forest River Hybrid TT, the dealer gave us everything we needed to start camping except for a way to connect the sewer hose to the campground's connection and toilet paper. So he sold us a 4 pack of RV toilet paper and a donut that we only used on our first trip (which was next door at the dealership's campground, they gave us 2 night's free camping).

When we got our unit it did come with extra cables to hook up the second battery. Not to hard to install yourself but if you can talk them into doing it go for it. The free hose and tank chemicals were pretty basic which you will upgrade from pretty quickly.

Enjoy the journey

For the first year each night you spend in your new RV will generate a new need. You will want a way to move the water in your holding tanks to a sewer (hose and fittings). A clear elbow to see that the waste water is running clear is handy. You will probably want to get water into your new Class C, so a drinking water approved hose (usually white or blue) is nice. You may also need a way to level your unit side to side, there are several options. bright orange Lynx blocks are popular (looks like giant legos) as is wood and plastic nautilus shaped options.

If you haven't already paid for those when you bought your RV (dealer included) then you will be buying them later. Check Amazon.

With our 5th wheel I dragged our feet for a few days to get them thinking I was going to back out. They ended up giving us $50 to their store, a second battery and another $500 gift card to their store.

The time to negotiate for freebies is before you sign the papers. Tell them (if they don't already know) you need everything for a first time owner. Free stuff, and discounts on future store purchases.

Just coming here to post something similar.

Shoot high, go for as many freebies and extras that you can. The worst they will say is no. It depends on how desperate they are to sell the rig...

Another suggestion that I used when I bought my rig is to go in with print-outs of pricing on the same rig that I got off of RVtrader.com across the country. Showing the dealer these prices, and telling them I have no issue traveling to another state to purchase, saved me almost an additional $4K on my rig, when they matched the prices...

As others said it really depends on the dealership, it is not a Jayco thing.

It has been a while; but I recall we got a basic sewer hose, toilet chemicals (still have not used them), a 15 amp to 30 amp adapter (cheap style), 25 foot potable water hose, a 5 gallon bucket, two really nice camp chairs. I feel like one more physical item, and a discount in their store.

The best part of the 25% discount at the dealer is it only makes their prices double Amazon or Walmart for the same items.

Thank you everyone. At least I know I should get something to get by, until I get to Walmart and Amazon, lol No paperwork signed yet,so I'll be sure to ask for some things you guys suggested. I'm flying from San Diego to Sacramento, to the LA Mesa Rv up there. Then driving the rig down. They offered me the best price I've seen yet for a new 2020 model. Just hoping the PDI and orientation go good *knocks on wood*

YOU set the pace of the PDI. take notes, or videos on your phone, as you go. You can refer to these later if you need to. If there's ANYTHING you don't understand, ask until it's clear to you. This is the single most important time in buying a new rig. And it won't happen again until you buy another one. Take your time, and be sure the tech covers every appliance and feature on it, inside and out. Have fun with it, and good luck on your negotiations!

Make sure they run the generator long enough to get it warmed up, then run it under at least half load for while you're looking at other stuff.

It should come with the power cord standard.bare minimum. Both my new 5er came with that. The first new one came with the 30A to 15A 110v adapter and that was about it, but it came from a crappy dealer and it was one of "the other brands".
My Northpoint came with the 50A power cord, a 50A to 30A adapter, and a sewer hose. They gave me a shopping spree in their very well stocked store for any and all at 50% off. I compared the prices on some items there to other places, walmart, etc., and the dealer prices were maybe a buck or two higher than other places. Smaller, cheaper items were coin change higher.
I took my trailer back once for some warranty work and to have awnings installed on all 5 slideouts and they gave me a smoking deal on those. Out of warranty, we had an issue with our main awning and they did a house call and we are 100mi apart.

If you don't mind me asking ,how long does it usually take for a generator to warm up? Does one that hasn't been used much take longer than one thats been used awhile?

If you haven't already signed the purchase agreement, try for delivery with a full tank of gas. That's worth many bucks. If they balk, try reminding them that when you buy a car from a reputable dealer, they always fill it up before delivery. Not exactly a fair comparison, but worth a try.

You'll only get what you negotiate, and usually all the extras you might want you purchase separately. Some dealers offer a discount in their store. Do a thorough pre departure inspection before you sign the purchase papers. Anything you find theyll likely fix on the spot. Once you buy it, you'll need to schedule a return for repairs. A buyer is in control until he or she relinquishes control. Dont be that guy.

Congrats. I,m out with my shakedown trip with my new Entegra Esteem 30x. First day out , loving it. My dealer gave a starter kit, but it's no big deal. Your second battery was a better deal. Do you feel you,'ve gotten a good deal?
Keep in touch.
