Your Top 5 RV Parks

1. Fort Wilderness - yes, it's pricey, crowded, and no-fires but can't beat the atmosphere and the vibe
2. Lake George RV Park - THIS is why we bought an RV, for the annual trip. Sites are great and resort has lots of amenities
3. Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort - the sites are individually owned and some are unbelievably nice. A marina and restaurant, and the trees/plants overall makes this place beautiful. Unfortunately they no longer allow TT and fifth wheels so we'll never get to go back.
4. Villages at Turning Stone - maybe we just like huge RV parks. Place has nice sites and bus to casino.
5. KOA Canandaigua/Rochester - Easily the hardest KOA site to find availability. One time we got the most amazing site. Best KOA we have stayed at.

Our favorite park that we went to 3 times per season was sold over the winter to a company that turns them into "glamp grounds". Short story is they are screwing over the seasonal site holders so I can only imagine what they are going to do to the transient reservations. That said it was the trigger for us to get out of RVing.

There are two places that stick in my mind over the years.
1) Smoky Bear Campground & RV Park, Gatlinburg, TN
2) Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone, MT

If your a beach person. And of course the wild ponies never disappoint you. Always have a wonderful relaxing time there.

Seboomook Wilderness Campground

and it is wilderness. Yes you can see the Milky Way and stars.

Involves 33 miles of travel over logging roads.

And it is cheap. $35/night water and electric.

Playground for kids and its on Moosehead Lake with most sites on a beach and a boat ramp for your or their boats
The kids have a blast finding stuff like fishing on their own.Run by a retired Game Warden he gives older kids a little leeway with 10 hp motor boats as long as they are safe and wear a PFD
Its in hunting and fishing country : have a small camp store. Whitney and Norm are working on giving guests a little Internet access . They can only get that via satellite.

DW and kids / grandkids love Lake George RV Park. I'd have to rate that as their favorite. It is a beautiful park but I am not a resort kind of camper. I second Ultra's pick of Asateuage - I an in awe of the serenity and the wild horses are amazing...

Hmm let’s see! One outside the small town of Bangs Tx ( my brothers ranch). One about 35 miles north east of litchfield California ( blm land ). One in the small town of La Porte California ( my daughter and son-in-laws property) and two hidden gems on the Northern California coast ( way North of San Francisco ).

Which describes my number 1 favorite campground in the USA, Lakeside Campground in Windsor NY. Without exaggeration, 5 miles off of the paved road nestled around a small private lake. In fact, you cross from PA in to NY on a dirt road.

Owned for years by an older couple. Unfortunately, they had to sell it before last season due to health issues. At least for last season, the new owners kept it exactly the same. I hope they never change it. It is truly a sanctuary. We've visited at least once per season for as many years as I can remember.

Loved the Villages also, but 2 years ago they wouldn’t allow us because we are licensed in NV….it was a red state for Covid at the time, but we had already been away from NV for 2 months before it became red, but no way. Love the large sites there and the copious shade!!

Spend 35 years in Portola. FINALLY got out of cali.... And went to Lassen College in the mid 60s.

Hate to admit it but never did go to LA Porte. But wife worked for the county and made at least one trip a year there. Guessing the Litchfield property must be close to the BLM Station on 395. Passed by that way MANY, MANY times. One of our favs is The Likely Place east of Likely on Jess Valley Rd..

Just about an hour away from home. It’s a nice campground. The odd thing is we have never camped there. Just too close to home, I guess. We do a lot of camping downstate Michigan, usually northern lower peninsula.

Only 2 years into this but we are definitely exploring the east coast, so far this is the list we’ve stayed more than 3 days:
Year one - Carolina Pines (Myrtle Beach), Brushcreek Falls (WV), Massey’s Landing (DE)
KOA Lake Placid, NY
Year 2 - Anchor Down (TN), KOA Gatlingsburg, TN, Dover Speedway (NASCAR) Ocean Lakes (Myrtle Beach), KOA Hammandsport (Finger Lakes NY) and then back to KOA Lake Placid for Labor Day. I would love fall trips but with my sons football schedule it can’t happen yet.

This year we are going to Normandy Farms, MA (just 2 days away so pumped), back to Dover, DE for NASCAR, the. Our big trip4th of July in Fort Wilderness Disney. We were thinking Lake George RV Park or Moose Hillock for early August and have reservations for KOA Herkimer in NY for Labor Day. But just learned our beautiful river side sight was a “buddy site” so we may cancel because the unknown neighbors will be so close to us. So we are looking into the Castaways place I saw mentioned here. Looks awesome.

Don’t really have a favorite because they all have their great qualities. Anchor Down was probably the most beautiful and would love to have enjoyed the lake in the summer but we were there in April and it’s hard to get reservations. Lake Placid KOA is just a nice place to visit as the weather cools, best views, something real comforting about that campground.

Just love hearing about experiences and new places.

Have not had any bad ones, just those that have skyrocketed in price, such as Fort Wilderness. Used to go there yearly, but its just too expensive now.

Lake George RV park was amazing. Expensive, but amazing. My dog escaped from the RV and ran straight to their dog park - it was that good.

Cherrystone Campground in VA was gorgeous up until the rednecks were duck hunting in the fog within 100yd of my RV. Hunting from the golf cart. Shotgun shells in the dog park. Really irresponsible on so many levels. The park is under new ownership now, so maybe it'll be better. https://www.sunoutdoors.com/virginia...s-cape-charles

Will be at Ocean Lakes - Myrtle Beach for the winter. Hoping for the best!
