New Campers! 19XUD

Hello everyone!

Just moved to East Tennessee and decided to buy a Jayco to enjoy our new environment!

We welcome any and all advice on things to do or avoid as we push forward!

Welcome to the group, there are a lots of helpful folks here

We have a 19XUD as well, so don't hesitate to ask if you have specific questions.

Thank for offering advice. The first project I am taking on is changing out the shower track with a bigger one. Do you have any idea on the roof depth or screw length I should use to secure the track? I am going to the hardware store today to try and match the screws I removed from the old track.

Be aware that the roof is hollow, except where there are structural members, so you may be screwing into a thin panel. (Construction is generally very "lightweight")

Can you re-use the screws that you took out?

What are you replacing the shower track with ?
Is yours curved, or straight?

We are replacing the old track with another flexible track simply to expand the diameter and bring the edges into the shower stall a bit to control water escaping around the edges. I used a hula hoop (cut down a bit) to mark where I want to place the new track. I've tried to do some research on the 19xud roof construction but there is limited data. I have the old screw for reference but I need a lot more.

I don't believe the old track was screwed into anything structural, that is why I am wanting to find out the thread and length of the screw that will work best.

Welcome and I apologize I'm late catching your post! I'm just south from you in Maryville. An 19XUD owner as well.
Fell free to reach out with questions. I have gotten to know my TT quite a bit in the last year from fixing a roof leak to replacing the cargo hold floor from water damage.

My goal this fall/winter is to remove the shower or build some storage over the existing one. The Tanks on the 19XUD is so small, and we always camp where there are showers. I want to update the Jack Knife sofa to a leather more comfortable couch and add a small hidden Sub woofer to add some life to the "not so great" stereo system.

The Roof Trusses are 16 on center and the ceiling is basically a thin Luann with a vinyl decorative skin like wallpaper.

Welcome aboard from Chattanooga! I'm new to this forum too but no stranger to camping. You have tons of great places to explore in east TN. I really enjoy camping along the TN river and it's tributaries, many places to choose from for riverside camping (pics are from my local campground). Aside of TN you must explore western NC for fall colors and beautiful lakes. While you're at it explore north GA for more mountains and charm of the small towns. Hard to beat the Helen GA area for October Fest. Enjoy!
