X17Z in KY, USA

Hello all. My wife and I bought a 2010 X17Z from a Jayco dealer almost two years ago. We use it at state parks and for some generator powered dry camping at farms and rural properties. It came iwth an equalizer hitch that works great for the tongue weight of the trailer. I've been using two Yamaha 2000 inverter generators in parallel when AC is needed and only one for cooler temps. I originally towed it with a 2010 V6 Tacmoa pickup which did great, but not awesome. I traded in the Tacoma for a 2010 F150 5.4L 3V V8 last year, and it brakes and pulls with more authority while getting the same gas mileage as the Tacoma both towing and just driving around.

I'm going to have a look around the forums for info on covers and maintenance. We just switched over from tobacoo barn storage to outdoor, so I need to look into a good cover to minimize sun and rain damage.

-Jason

Welcome and I really like your camper. I also have 2 Honda Eu2000i generators. What kind of mileage do you get?

In the 4.0L V6 Tacoma (220HP/260TQ) I got:
18-19 highway
8-10 towing 75+mph
10-12 towing 65-70mph

In the 5.4L 3V F150 (310HP/365TQ) I got:
18-19 highway
8-10 towing 75+mph
10-11 towing 65-70mph

The F150 has a bigger bed, more width on the interior, same mileage and cost less also. The Tacmoa was around 4300lbs and the F150 is around 5700lbs, so the F150 yanks the tarailer around a lot better and stops better with discs in the back instead of the drums on the Tacoma. The Tacoma did fine, but I definitely prefer the F150. We're thinking of getting the wife a larger SUV like an Expedition or Jeep Grand Cherokee that might make aerodynamics better than a pickup bed.
