Old Fart vs Seenager
I had forgotten about starting this thread, but here it is anyway.
I'm just an old fart, and happy to be one. I want things I never wanted as a teenager, like Cracking the Grind in an extreme wind suit, that didn't exist. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a computer, that also didn't exist when I was a teenager. And any RV I want today didn't exist as a teenager either.
That is maybe why I like being a simple old fart. Actually, I do think slowly and I'm doing the best I can to forget as much as I can, so I can think faster...is it working, don't know, never measured it but I think I'm getting faster. Why be held back by old, stale, stuff (nice word ehh!)
I love going to school, training to be an RV service technician. I really enjoyed working as a service technician at a local RV rental agency for 3 months...I got to be an old fart who said what he thought and did what he wanted on the job, the way I wanted...just great as they knew they had no job threat control over me.
I always had money coming in, one way or the other, and I bought my house right out of college...that was actually the bank's pad, but my girlfriends didn't seem to know the difference and they never asked me where I got my money from.
I stopped having a curfew when I was 17, same with I had a driver's license and my own car.
After my 20's I learned to stay out of bars. The guys I hang with never worried about getting pregnant...not sure about some of the "guys" these days. My wife is a bit worried though, I'm still reasonably capable, thank goodness. Actually, all us young guys were kind of scared of premature pregnancies (my creative term) OR maybe I should say it a different way...today the young men are afraid of divorce judges...can't image why.
I wish I had acne. I would trade that any day for my bald head.
