I have flown models at Moffet, not when AF1 is there of course. I have seen AF1 at SFO when coming down I380.

I also saw a smaller jet painted in the same paint scheme taking off from I assume RAF Lakenheath in the 90's, I assume carrying a senator or congressman, at that time I did not know the scheme was used on smaller planes, but this one only had 2 engines.

I feel lucky to have taken a tour of Air Force one when GWB was president. He visited Oklahoma City area and his plane was at Tinker AFB. I worked there at the time and they allowed a select few of us to take a tour. It's amazing how much stuff is off limits on that plane.

747

In late 80's I traveled to japan for work. Remember being at Narita (Tokyo) airport where I saw dozens of 747. They move lots of people long distances and I had only seen one or two over my previous years of travel in the US. Was an impressive sight to see the short and "stretch" versions.

If anyone is ever in the neighborhood of Dayton, OH, be sure to visit the National Museum of the United States Air Force and its Presidential Galley of aircraft used by our former presidents.

It seems to me that seeing Air Force One is important to a lot of people. Must be because the new guy gets out more than the last guy.

When President Fords body was being flown to Grand Rapids they did a stop at Willow Run Airport. They flew low over my house and I knew they would. I heard a plane, saw the logo and waved at it. The did a wing swing and it was so cool to have the only time Air Force One would ever fly over my house. Awesome. Wanted to go to the funeral but it would be crazy.

AF1 practices their touch and goes at MDT International Airport, just south of Harrisburg, PA. It is the only "low traffic" airport in the vicinity of Washington with a long enough runway (MDT used to be Olmstead AFB) to allow it to land and take off and it is common to see AF1 circling overhead.
One afternoon it came over our backyard, low with the engines screaming....you could almost touch the under side or so it seemed...awesome!
