Cool! I once saw it landing at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio while driving east on I-70. I've heard that it gets all its servicing done there, so I doubt POTUS was onboard.

I was talking to a business associate at the Richmond airport several years back. I looked up just as it left the ground. We continued our conversation and a few minutes later we saw it taking off again. Appeared they were testing/training/practicing. Over the next hour or so I must have seen it close to a dozen times. Pretty cool!

Things like this will create lifelong memories. Reminds me of the time I was parked across the street from The L.A. Sports Arena when the space shuttle flew over on the back of a 747 at a very low altitude. Major goosebumps! Saw the same thing a little later in the day as I was driving down the freeway as it crossed the freeway a few miles ahead of me. That one was a surprise while the Sports Arena was planned. One of these years I sure would like to go see that shuttle which is on display in L.A.

I've seen Air Force One land at my local airport the back side of which is also an Air National Guard base. Also, the presidents private plane resides here as well....

What airport is that? I’ve landed there a couple times and noticed he was keeping the plane there now. It was at La Guardia for the longest time.

The last time I saw AF1, it was hauling out of Sarasota as fast as it could, and flying very low.
Unfortunately, this was on 9/11, so ti's unlikely that George W was on board. He was probably being hustled in the opposite direction in a totally different plane.
Still an impressive, if sad, memory

I'd love to tour it. I will have to make it a point to do that!

I was walkin around in the woods behind MacDill Air Force base an I just happened to look left and there it was. About 150 yds away was the 747 with the shuttle piggy back. I didn't dare walk close to the fence an it was before the days of cell phones with cameras

I seen it flying over central Iowa on 9/11, GW was in Omaha that day, I assume he was heading back to DC. It was being escorted by two fighter jets.

I hate to seem contradictory, but it's a matter of public record that George W was reading to school children, here in Sarasota, FL, when he got the news on 9/11. They moved him to a secure location in Nebraska, under the Continuity of Operations Plan.

It may be that AF1 was sent off in a different direction as a diversion.

I read a book this year called, "The only Plane in the sky". It was about what was going on just after 9-11. It was very graphic and factual.

My wife and I were in PA and just happened to be passing the airport in Lancaster when we spotted what looked like Air Force 1 landing. The confirmation that it was Air Force 1 came as every overpass we went under on the highway for a mile or more had a group of police cars stopped on the overpass. The final confirmation was the news reports that evening talking about the President's visit to PA.

It is special to watch. It has landed multiple times over the years at Moffet Field Naval Air Station in the bay area. NASA now owns most of the facility, along with Google, but they still land the plane there.

As a 9-11 first responder - I found that book to be extremely interesting. Lots of great information...

I have a close friend Col. USAF Retired that served on AF1 during the Clinton Presidency. He currently teaches at the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA.
He and I fly together a lot in his airplane.

I see AF1 on a regular basis flying overhead. It practices approaches at KMDT. (Harrisburg International Airport?
