One of those days!

Well, was having a great couple of months all going well until today...
Moving day to next location - in the mountains. DW took the Jeep and did some shopping while I continued on to our campground and parked the RV...great site in great location for us...in the mountains, near a lake ( somewhat near a lake) and near great little town.

DW called about 5 miles out saying the Jeep has a lot of red lights and dinging bell...she was able to creep in by turning off the AC and turning the heater on...some of her training in the military helped there... well, for sure,
ALL of the engine coolant leaked out apparently. see some dripping from the bottom of the Jeep frame, but cannot tell where the leak is?? Let it cool down and checked the top coolant reservoir - bone dry. And we just had the 30K service done on this about a week ago.

So, will be hooking the Jeep up to the MH and towing her down to Jeep dealer in closest town there is one... in hopes they can get us in... when we needed the 30K service this dealer stated they were two weeks out with appts.... argh, but
we'll see if they can fit us in at some point over the next week before we have to depart...and hopefully warranty will cover it. Else will try and find local auto repair place and hope insurance will cover it...

Just venting here...

That's a bummer, we hope it's something simple and the warranty covers it. Let us know what they find out.

If you just have a drip, I doubt that is where all of the coolant went. It would be all over the back of the jeep and the frame if it were a leaking clamp or hose. I am not a mechanic, but have been told by several of them to check the oil. If it is way over-full with antifreeze, you have a head gasket out. The other obvious cause is the water pump, and from my experience, you would smell it and have obvious steam and a puddle when stopped. finally, if it were a hole in the radiator, you would be able to see the steam and leaking once it gets warm. If you confirm it is not going into the oil, you can try filling it with water and idling until it gets warm to see if there is an obvious leak.
