What was your first cell phone?

Ours was a bag phone. Us old folks may be the only ones who remember those.

I had two bag phones. The first was stolen when my car was broken into at work. A month later it was recovered and returned to me, after I had gotten another one. They had awesome power. Yes, I'm old! And for some reason, I still have them. Maybe a museum will want them in 100 years....

Motorola Bag phone issued by work circa 1994. The medic on the QRV got the phone for the shift and passed it on to the next one coming on.

The first one I bought was also a Motorola. But, this time it was the classic flip with the pull up antenna.

My wife's first phone was installed in her Jeep Cherokee. The receiver was on the dash with the unit under the seat and the antenna on the window.

Hey now! Take it easy on the old folks thing! Lol! I'm 48 and my first one was a Motorola bag phone also. Considering the crappy tower coverages we had back then, those phones would do it the At&t way, "reach out and touch someone". For some reason the number in my head that's ringing a bell is 3, as in 3 watts of power those things had. I also remember the glass mounted cell antenna that it could connect to for better call quality.

I remember those. Do you remember the same black steel house phones with no dial? You picked up the receiver and she said "number please". My home number was 191 and my best friend's was 268W.

I'm definitely old, but my first cell phone was a Motorola Bag Phone.

I had one permanently mounted in my car - I thought I was so cool. Moved up to a portable bag phone and then to a tiny Motorola Star Tac. The rest is just a blur...

I'm with Marcm, only had it set up that I could mount the bag phone in the car or truck for long trips with the window antenna. (circa 1985..Cellular One in Cincinnati, now Verizon).

My first cell phone was also a Motorola bag phone. Then moved up to a handheld phone, something like MadMax shows. Big, huge clunky thing. Both were reliable.

Anyone every have a two way pager? Had one of them at one of my jobs. It would speak to you.

Motorola bag phone circa 1991. I was an Army E-5 stationed at Ft Polk Louisiana and thought I had to have a pager (Motorola Bravo) and a bag phone. The minutes on the phone were so expensive, I hardly used it.

A flip phone with a pull out antenna around 2005 or so.

Mine was a Motorola bag phone. The antenna has a magnetic base to stick to the roof on the vehicle. That thing had no problem getting a signal to make a call. I’ve still got that thing out in the garage collecting dust. After that I went to a Nokia candy bar phone. I also remember the party lines as a kid. If I got bored I would annoy someone else who was using the party line. I tried to bring the party to the line, but others didn’t appreciate it. LOL
